It's been a long time since we last heard from Peter Sjostrand’s Mega Man 2.5D fan-game, but an announcement has been posted to YouTube. The above trailer reveals the project is well on its way to completion, with the first single player co-op stage based on Shadow Man's domain due later this year.
For the uninitiated, Mega Man 2.5D is a new take on classic 8-bit gameplay combining 2D sprites with dizzying 3D environments. You can see the original 2009 pitch here and a year-by-year retrospective at The Mega Man Network.
Look forward to more news soon!
It looks awesooooooome!! I need it= :D
ReplyDeleteKnowing me, if I play this, I'll bitch about the camera angles and the inaccurate physics. A lot. I think that's why I didn't like those one other 3D Mega Man games. (Not 8-Bit Deathmatch. That was Doom more than Mega Man, after all; it wasn't trying to be a Mega Man game particularly. And it was executed brilliantly! :3)
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me where this piece of music is from. It's driving me crazy!
ReplyDeletePower Battle, Napalm Man.

I long for a 32 bit fangame ala MM8. Too many 8 bit fangames. I know they're easier to make/program, but just one 32 bit game that stands out from the rest would be nice for a change.
ReplyDeleteI follow this blog regularly but have seen little mention of some other fan games coming out (Mega Man Unlimited - releases in two days!!).
ReplyDeleteI feature Mega Man Unlimited quite a bit (just last week, too). Others, too.
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected! Have you featured Mega Man X: Corrupted? It's a great looking game that deserves some attention as well.
