EBGames Canada has outed the existence of a PlayStation 3 product called "Capcom Essentials", which is slated to launch on October 8th. The package reportedly includes Devil May Cry 4, Dead Rising 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 6, and Mega Man 10. That's five games for $60 US.
Now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is not the physical release for Mega Man 10 many have hoped for. If this product is similar to Journey: Collector's Edition, the disc may simply include just the installer files for each game. In other words, the five games technically aren't on the disc, but you launch them as if you bought them off of PSN without having to connect to the internet. All speculation, of course.
Whatever the case, I think it's sort of nice we might get some physical representation of Mega Man 10. But would you pay $60 just to fill a space in your shelf?
UPDATE: Xbox 360 version has been listed as well.

Is really that har to put MM9 in the collection?, Capcom delivering like always...
ReplyDeleteOh look, it's a bunch of games most people already own.
ReplyDeleteAnd for PS+ users, got some of them months ago for free.
:/
Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with Amir. This definitely does seem like a waste of money, and I'm saying this as someone who's a sucker for collection-type games.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't know about anyone else, but Mega Man 9 and 10 being digital download-exclusive titles isn't that big of a deal to me.
Um, is this real? Because if it is, then it sure seems odd to see Mega Man 10 bundled with 3 M-rated games.
ReplyDeleteAnd while MM10 is actually the only game in this set that I actually own, if this collection is really just a bunch of installation codes then I'm sure as hell not buying it.
Yes this is real.
DeleteYa, if they were actually on the disc, that'd be one thing. But I feel it's a complete rip-off if all they are is just installation codes...
ReplyDeleteThey have to be codes. No way all five can fit on one disc.
ReplyDelete@anon3 Not that I doubt this will be digital. However, if this is a physical release? The box could have the several DVDs/Blu-Rays.
ReplyDeleteThe Journey Collector's Edition fully installed the game to the hard drive, but still required the disc. Essentially, it was a disc-based game where the disc didn't spin - It NEVER required an Internet connection at all. Okami HD did the same thing: 8GB installation, but the disc needed to be in the drive. No internet connection.
ReplyDeleteI actually like this method better than the traditional one, since it puts less wear and tear on the disc drive. We should be WANTING this collection to work the way Journey did.
If this isn't multiple physical discs, Capcom has learned nothing from the SFxT on/off disc content debacle.
ReplyDelete-ud
Lol, no.
DeleteThis is entirely different. That was content stored and hidden away behind a paywall. This you're getting exactly what you paid for.
You are not getting what you paid for if it's just a disc with download codes. I want a disc with the game on it. SFxT was the opposite problem (disc that had the content, but was unusable). Either way, Capcom doesn't understand that people don't like an asterisk next to anything.
