Hot on the heels of yesterday's post, Rockman Unity's Ucchy has revealed the next character to get the D-Arts treatment: Black Zero. If you've been keeping track, you'll note Black Zero came in 10th place in the recent character poll. He was also teased back at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con.
Black Zero will ship with the same accessories that the Zero Type 2 figure included, but his Z-Saber is purple. That's three purple Z-Sabers, four detachable hands, two faces and a normal arm. Black Zero will be a Premium Bandai figure in Japan, but I've recieved word from our friends at Tamashii Nations and Bluefin that the figure will indeed be headed stateside. We'll have more news (and images) soon.

V2 Zero IS the Version 3 you speak of. The version of Zero with his X2 buster was never made since the only difference would be a different Z-buster
DeleteSo I guess this confirms that the polls are simply a suggestion to the execs, rather than actually determining which characters will be the next to get a figure.
ReplyDeleteBandai is clearly going to re-use the same molds of X & Zero (and probably Classic MM & Bass as well) over and over before they make an Iris, Volnutt, Robot Master, Maverick, etc, etc.
The point is that the fan polls are looking mighty pointless right now, is what I'm getting at.
This doesn't really confirm anything, because black Zero was going to come out already, anyway. Why it was on even on the poll, I'm not sure.

Another half-assed repaint. It's a wonder why they insist on making goofy color variants of X characters when color variants of the real Megaman would be more appropriate, and potentially profitable.
Tell me nobody here wants a Red/White Rush-compatible Megaman or a Metal Blade color variant?
Here's the second consecutive D-Arts figure I won't be buying. Bandai's going to see those sales dwindle and they're going to pull the plug on the whole line because they can't turn a sufficient profit by penny pinching.
Y'know, for a Japanese company, they've got a very American philosophy.

DeleteAccording to what I've read, this figure is a limited edition run that will not be in retail. Its sales won't really affect a thing.
Out of all the potential characters on that survey, we get a recolor of an already established figure. Laughable. Now in their defense, they could have done it to balance things out with X since he's getting his Ultimate Armor version, but the fact remains. This is still just a color swap.
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I can say is that this better be a figure to "hold us over" for some brand new ones they're cooking up, but I'm sure they'll charge full price for this. Now what they should have done was make a model of Absolute Zero from Command Mission. That would have been incredible and worth every penny.
It's pretty clear that this guy was in the works before that poll was made. Everyone just needs to settle.
ReplyDeleteI have always had the thought that D-Arts figures were above repaints and were all about quality rather than quantity. That's what I thought the polls were for; for fan input so they can create a figure that a lot of us would enjoy! Their attention to detail is amazing and it would have been nice to see different characters made into quality figures. These aren't some cheap Wal Mart toys we're talking about! They're figures we are willing to pay a pretty penny for!

I don't think Bandai would have done recolor normally, but ya gotta have Black Zero to pair with Ultimate Armor X.

D-arts sure as hell aren't going to stop fapping about in the X series, might as well bite the bullet and get these older ones of characters I actually wanted.
Think it's pretty dumb that Black Zero was even a choice in the poll to begin with, let alone being made into a figure when it was #10 in results.
At least add in some new different accessories! But nope! BANDAI is being tight ass with their money. I wouldn't be surprised if this tanks the line.

DeleteBecause its a simple recolor. Nothing special! It would of been better if they included limited parts or effect parts that work with it and or other X line D-Arts. But its just a simple recolor of the figure and weapons. AND THATS IT!!!!!

ReplyDeleteWow, some of you guys are such cry babies. "WAAAAH! IRIS AND MEGAMAN VOLNUTT DIDN'T GET PICKED!" These D-Arts Megaman X figures are much better than those earlier Bandai Megaman figures and much MUCH better than the Jazzware figures!
