Masahiro Sakurai has taken to YouTube to discuss additional details for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Skip to 3:48 where Sakurai outlines Mega Man's mechanics; his variable weapons system, special attacks and so forth. We also get a great look at Dr. Wily's stage.
Check it out if you're hankering for more footage of the blue guy in action!
Loving it thus far. I see the rail lifts from Mega Man 2 are in his stage, I'd have preferred vanish blocks for a stage hazard but that might have been too much.
ReplyDeleteSo many people are get butt frustrated over the Wii Fit Trainer, lighten up the series has had joke characters before like Mr. Game and Watch and ROB.
Wtf R.O.B. wasn't a joke character...!
DeleteYea.... ROB is pretty brutal...
Delete... ROB and Game&Watch were responsible for alot of Nintendo's early success... Game&Watch was their first portable games and ROB really helped the NES... Smash Bros is about tribute, and Wii Fit Trainer is tribute to the fact games like Wii Fit caused the wii to take off.
DeleteWoo Top Spin!
ReplyDeleteHe also has what appears to be Air Shooter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJmzalIXRKw
DeleteHuh... Maybe she'll turn out okay?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Megaman rocks, as usual. I always figured that they're work his master weapons into his attacks.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!
ReplyDeleteHE HAS TOP SPIN!!
HE HA 8-DIRECTIONAL METAL BLADE....WHICH OTHER CHARACTERS CAN USE AS AN ITEM!!!
FUCK YES TO EVERYTHING!!!
So Flame Blast seems to be his final smash.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping for the Super Megaman Armor. Have him zipping around the stage launching the homing Mega Arm at foes K.O.ing them in one shot.
Still, with this guy in the mix, why would anyone want to play as any of the other characters?
Did you actually watch the video? Flame Blast is just his downwards smash attack.
DeleteMy thoughts on what his current moveset is right now.
DeleteNeutral Special: Metal Blade
Side Special: Crash Bomb
Up Special: Rush Coil
A Combo: Mega Buster (possibly Side tilt also)
Up Tilt: Mega Upper
Down Tilt: Slide
Side Tilt thoughts: Because normally when a character walks and hits the a button, the forward tilt is activated. As you are allowed to attack with the mega buster while walking, I'm assuming this.
Neutral Air: Mega Buster
Up Tilt: Air Shot wave thing. Air Man's weapon (Revealed in a video where Sakurai is playing as him)
Down Air: Hard Knuckle
Forward Air: Flame Sword
Backward Air: Slash Claw
Up Smash: Spark Shock
Side Smash: Charge Shot
Down Smash: Flame Blast
Final Smash is still unknown.
Down tilt would be Charge Kick!
DeleteI am fangasming so hard over this. And here's why!:
ReplyDelete- Top Spin!!!
- He's not overpowered!
- His weapons can be turned against him!
- THEY INCLUDED ROCK'S DOUBLE-BUSTER OVERHEATING TRAIT
So, so, so cool...!!! *w*
We don't know for sure yet about over/underpowered. We don't have a full grasp of the game's mechanics and engine specifics either, but I could see him having some serious trouble landing "safe" KO moves - both his seeming up and down tilt attacks look pretty slow to recover but the harassment potential of plinking spam can't be denied. He will probably easily 'steal' kills too, and having a projectile meteor smash could be a boon depending on how air dodge mechanics work out this time around.
DeleteJust early speculation on my end though - regardless of how good/bad he is in real play, he seems incredibly faithful to how he handles in his old NES games and that's amazing from both a fan and design perspective.
I must get a Wii U!!! Better start saving!
ReplyDeleteThey actually remembered that using two busters causes strain on Rock's body...
ReplyDelete... but not the fact that the Rock Upper comes from the arcade games. =(
Ack, I meant to reply to your comment, but it messed up somehow. Scroll down a bit to see my reply regarding that.
DeleteWHAT. Top Spin has a use after all??
ReplyDelete"The only real punch is the Mega Upper. Used in Marvel vs. Capcom, it's like a Shoryuken."
ReplyDelete-Sakurai, when describing the Mega Upper
Capcom wouldn't have even paid this much attention to detail...
ReplyDeleteThank You Nintendo! :)
