Keiji Inafune Drops by Boss Battle Gallery, Draws Mega Man

In town for GDC, Keiji Inafune paid a visit to the Mega Man Boss Battle gallery art show. With pen in hand, he left his mark -- a fresh sketch of Mega Man, right next to the work of his fans. Hit the jump for a closeup.

  1. For using lead based ink in a public space Inafune was sentenced to 5 years in jail and fined 20000 Yen. For vandalizing a wall he was sentenced to 10 years in jail with a 10000 Yen fine. For drawing a "*ock", he was required to register as a sex offender.

  2. Rockman, give him a break. He missed Mega Man so much, so he drew it on the wall as long as we remember what Keiji represents this picture for all of us.

  3. I'll forgive him for being Japanese, but he misspelled ©rapcom.

  4. Someone should edit it so it says "RIP 17.12.1987 - 27.3.2013"

  5. That is really cool! I wish he never left Capcom, but he did what would be best for himself, so that's cool. I just wish there was somebody left at stupid Capcom who cared about this franchise instead of letting it go to pot. :(

  6. Even knowing who he is and the prestige he has, I'm actually kind of surprised nobody stopped him on grounds of vandalism.

It's still really neat to see, though. I can't wait to see what new things he does - Mega Man may have been our childhoods, but I'm sure he can touch another generation's own with his new ideas.

  9. Haha, it's an art gallery. Considering the range of art it's doubtful the worst thing that's happened to them was a small little market doodle. My guess is that permission was given for him to do this. All they'll need to do is cover it up with a little paint. No harm done. There's always clean up like that with galleries. They'll have to fill holes for where the hanging system for all the work was placed and deal with any other damage. Pretty routine. ;)
