Freeing OVER-1 From the Shackles of Auto-Scroll

What would Rockman Xover look like if you could actually control OVER-1? Well, probably a little something like this. COCOROG's own Tarbo is tinkering with a modification to release our hero from auto-scrolling purgatory. It's all just an experiment for now, but we could one day end up playing with a free-moving OVER-1 in a future Tarbo fan-game.

I don't know about you, but I can dig it!

  1. What's this? Another example of the fans doing a better job than Capcom? :D

  3. I can already see good things coming from this.

  4. It would be much better if it wasn't for that lame auto-scroll game. It needs to be a side scroll like Mega Man X game.

Lesson learned, Capcom and these guys who created Rockman Xover.

    Good bye.

  5. Truth be told, I really don't think that the concept of the game or Over1 was ever the problem as much as the gameplay and lack of effort put into it. Would I be wrong to assume that most fans, including myself would welcome an actual game with the basic story of Xover but Classic or X style gameplay with open arms?

  6. @10:18 PM: You wouldn't be wrong at all.

I'd prefer that a game like that not be on iOS, but I'm sure it's possible to make touch-screen platforming controls that work.

  7. Eh, I doubt that freeing him from the auto-scroll is going to make the game any better. Best off just to take OVER-1 and put him in a completely different (hopefully better) game.

  8. The prospect of a fan game where you can actually CONTROL Over-1 definitely intrigues me...

  9. Also, on that note, just give him a fixed up sprite, because the one that's actually in Rockman Xover sucks (and is missing animations anyway).

  11. Yes, please!
My main gripe about X-over isn't even the shoddy sprites (graphics are not my biggest criteria when it comes to games). It's the lack of control.
The prospect of a game that blends the side-scrolling controls of a classic MegaMan game with the customization and RPG elements of EXE/StarForce is really exciting!
Make it so Tarbo! Make it so!

  12. I'm still not a fan of Over-1's design, but maybe they can make something decent out of this.

I do worry that it'll just be Megaman X with Over-1, though.

  13. ...and suddenly I don't hate Over-1 anymore.
I feel as if a veil has been lifted from my spirits, and the scales fallen from my eyes.

  14. I am going to agree with Anonymous. For all of the cool stuff that Tarbo has done. ... I have yet to see a release of any of the 'cool stuff' for folks to play.

  15. How sad is it when the fans do a better job at programming and making a game than the company responsible?? You fail at quite a bit, Capcom, but wow! This takes a lot of the cake when they take a grabage game you created and make it somewhat better! >:(

  16. Never realized this, but you don't actually ever have to JUMP in XOver, right?
As long as you aren't going for 100% kills and item drops, the stage portion (prior to the boss) can technically be "played" with just one button (PEW PEW PEW), if I'm not mistaken?
