Check Out Mega Man 9's Unused Honey Woman
Early in Mega Man 9's development, producer Hironobu Takeshita revealed that Hornet Man was originally intended to be a female Robot Master, aptly named "Honey Woman". Although she didn't make it into the game, unseen concept art of the character has finally surfaced from the pages of R20+5. And I, for one, can dig it! The alternate Hornet Man designs are pretty neat too.
The Mega Man Network has plenty more R20+5 Mega Man 9 scans. Head on down to check them out! (just wait until you see the primordial Tornado Man. Very cool!)

HNNNNNNNNNNNG.
ReplyDeleteI am really digging that design.
ReplyDeleteIncoming rule34 in 3...2..1
ReplyDeleteYou mean "Honey" Woman? ;D
ReplyDeleteWelp! I'm slightly in-love. :D
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! this makes the R20+5 a must buy. BTW I prefer ocean man and horney woman over splash woman and hornet man anyday.
ReplyDeleteMust resist... do not draw poorr..
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've heard of Honey Woman, and I must say, I really like her. Kind of wish she got in instead of Hornet Man.
ReplyDeleteD'aaaaaaw! She looks adorable! No wonder they didn't want to use this design. We'd be too hesitant to attack her because of her cuteness! :3
ReplyDeleteI personally like that alternate Hornet Man design. Much more sleek and has a bigger cool factor.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they can re-use this design later?
ReplyDelete(I can see some really funny Off-Panel comics coming from Archie relating to this.)
@Cyberguy
ReplyDeleteWell if they ever do continue the Classic series, she could be a whole new character. Queen Bee or something along those lines.
As a fan of Darkstalkers' Q-Bee, I approve.
ReplyDeleteThey can easily make Mega Man 11 with a few of these designs. No joke. A tweak here and there. Rename them so they is no connection to their MM 9 counterpart and you have yourself a new game. I mean we did have consecutive sequels with similar themes bosses. But these need to be more than just the original concepts that they are. They do look good and could easily have looked better in sprite form for the game. I persononally like the first version of Diamond Man and Honey Woman. Even Sting Man looks cool. Make him a scorpion and hes in business for the next game.
ReplyDeleteI really like her design and Ocean Man's. Shame they were replaced.
ReplyDeleteCorrection, they were "Gender-Swapped"
DeleteShe looks so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteGAHD Capcom! Why no Honey Woman in my Mega Man game!? >=(
ReplyDelete"Because of Splash Woman"
Delete10/10 would bang.
ReplyDeleteCool design.. I like Honey man very much as much as others. The Honey Woman is an okay one, to be honest. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHoney Woman and Alternate Hornet Man look pretty cool. Fatso Man not so much. :P I still like the current Hornet Man design best, though. :D
ReplyDelete@Blankaman
ReplyDeleteI know you made a typo, and I am not one to give people grief over typos because we are human, but your particular typo looks pretty awkward if you know what I am saying. XD
Okay, that's it. Udon, bring this book over to the west! I am buying! :D
So cute! Nice to see a different looking Capcom bee girl after Q-Bee!
ReplyDelete-ud
I wish they'd have used her instead of Hornet Man.
ReplyDeleteWhat?? HoRney Woman? Ah ok...honey...hehehe....oops!
ReplyDeleteMega Man ZX Advent had a hornet/bee female boss too. Just can't remember her name at the moment.
ReplyDeleteHoney Woman is cute, but since they felt they had to choose one female boss then I'm glad they went with Splash Woman instead.
ReplyDeleteUggh, don't even compare her to Queenbee. Honey Woman's actually pleasing on the eyes compared to that... other one.
