Yes, Rockman Xover stinks. It's not something you'd write home about, that's for sure. However, I'm partial to one redeeming quality: the theme song. It's a rockin' tune that gets you pumped!
So, which one of you will be making the first homemade guitar cover?
Not bad at all.
ReplyDeleteWould it be too much of an exaggeration, if I said this one song probably had way more effort put into than the entire game it's from?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking no. It's not an exaggeration at all.
This is too good to be in this game, it's pretty sad :(
ReplyDelete@EngineR2: What if it was composed for other game but didn't made it in the final product, and was recycled for xover? :P
ReplyDelete@Previous anon: Agree. What a waste of good music. This is one of the few things I like in this game-wannabe app.
This is awesome! But I've gotta agree with the other comments: it outshines the game. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteYou know, had an ideia here. I agree that the game stinks, HOWEVER the ideia isn't bad at all. I mean making "your megaman" or something like that. I might use it for some RPGmaker project sometime. Or maybe go even further and make what this should have be!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that the only good things from Xover is the theme, Over-1, and 14 year old Kalinka.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the DS Castlevania games. Which has now saddened me for a different reason. Stupid reboot.
ReplyDeleteThat's the only redeeming thing about Xover. How sad.
ReplyDelete@EngineR2
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not. It's really pathetic that so little effort was put into this entire "game" but this one piece of music kicks this "game's" ass.
I agree. It's saddening that the theme song is the only good thing coming from Xover, and sadder still that it's being wasted as the theme for such a terrible game that shouldn't even exist. Though I have to admit, it does seem a bit odd for them to put in so much effort into the theme song when the rest of the game is trash, you'd think the theme would also be effortless, or rehashed from something else (like the stage themes...).
ReplyDeleteBut hey, it's a good track to listen to, and that's what counts.
And now I've found the perfect videogame comparison.
ReplyDeleteRockman XOver is this generation's Cheetahman. No (actual) effort put towards any part of the gameplay or graphics or playtesting, but contains one catchy song.
@EngineR2
ReplyDeleteNo, that would not be exaggeration. Though I think November 30, 2012 7:24 PM Anonymous' theory is pretty spot-on. I'm willing to wager this wasn't made for this game, initially. Which is why we have such a nice theme for a game that largely recycles things from the 16-bit games.
sounds like something for Guilty Gear and other Arc Sys games and not something for megaman o_o"
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason I actually didn't like the Xover theme as much as I thought I would.
ReplyDelete@ Castillero - Do you always complain whenever something Xover-related happens?
I gotta agree with a anon up there: This song sounds like Guilty Gear. More specifically, it sounds like Daisuke Ishiwatari composed this song. It's very similar to his works.
ReplyDelete@Zerker: Oh my gooddddd, how can you not like the Xover theme?! Don't you know how good and kickass it sounds? Clearly the only reason you don't like the theme is because everyone else dislikes Xover!!
ReplyDelete...See how I spun that? That is what you sound like most of the time.
@One of the anons:
ReplyDeleteNext year Capcom may release "Rockman vs. Cheetahman: New Cross Generation of Worlds" or "Mega Cheetahman Xover".
Well, at least it is not as buggy as Cheetahman, but Cheetahman's graphics have more variety.
@ 3:38PM Anon - That was a nice attempt, but you forgot that I don't put '!' and '?' directly next to each other, amongst other things.
ReplyDeleteLet's ask the AVGN to review xover! And Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge.
ReplyDelete@Anon above me
ReplyDeleteAnd what is wrong with BCC?
