Archie’s Mega Man #19 is well on its way, and for those of you eager to have a quick sneak peek, you can head over to Destructoid for a delightful six-page preview. Tony Ponce has a nice summary of the events ahead:
" ...this story, Roll takes her girlfriends to the beach, but a sudden storm threatens a cruise liner drifting a little too close to shore. With Mega Man undergoing an upgrade to receive the slide ability -- Dr. Light's line, "I just don't understand why it stops working at modes nine and ten," is subtlety at its finest -- it's up to the gals and Light's newest "water rescue unit" to save the day."
Be sure to drop by Destructoid for the full preview. Issue #19 hits newsstands November 14th, subscribers any day now!
Slide function... upgrade?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I laughed. But not for the right reason. However, I suppose if you stop and think about it, Rock having the ability to slide short distances over any surface probably is something installed in his legs. A rapid exhaust thruster or something like that. Of course, that's a fairly useless function if you stop and consider Rock could just as soon crawl through gaps outside of a video game scenario...
That's about as subtle as a jack hammer.
ReplyDelete"I just don't understand why it stops working at Modes nine and ten!"
ReplyDeleteYeah, there's absolutely no way they weren't referencing Mega Man 9 and 10 with that particular line.
Is Oilman hiding his large lips under his scarf?
ReplyDeleteHave to say I enjoyed the MM9 and 10 reference, haha
ReplyDeleteI dont like one thing about Oilman is his large lips under his scarf because of black people ? So what ? I love black people. What's wrong with Capcom ? Embarrassment or something ? Oh brother.
ReplyDeleteWhat's this ? The drawing is a little bit ugly.. A different artist ? Ugh!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Flynn.
ReplyDeleteIf he wasn't so busy plugging fanfare references into his comics, he might actually manage to scribe a book worth reading more than once.
This book is dying for a writer who actually cared about the Megaman series beforehand.
There are combat uses to the slide too, so it's not impractical for Dr. Light to build it.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I love this little jab. As much as I liked the games, I hated that they took away Megaman's abilities in 9 and 10, and was even more frustrated that they gave them to Protoman, who already had his dash and different charge shot.
XDDDDD
ReplyDeleteNine and Ten.... Good job guys. XD As usual..
@November 8, 2012 8:55 AM Anon: ...did we read the same comic? For that matter, are we thinking of the same person?
ReplyDeletePerhaps you don't find the book very enjoyable because your nitpicking has reached critical mass. I have #19 in hand, and I can assure you that it is very much worth reading.
How anyone can say Ian Flynn doesn't care about giving Mega Man a good story after the Protoman arc, I'll never know.
ReplyDeleteAnon, if you don't like it, then maybe you should go read something else and stop complaining.

ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck is a "fanfare reference"?
Did you perhaps mean "fanservice" (i.e. service for the fans, a knowing nod and a wink), which, contrary to what one may have heard, is not strictly limited to sex-appeal T&A shots?
