Blast from the Past: Commercial for Tiger's Mega Man 2 Handheld

Mega Man 2 for the Tiger handheld system. An abomination in every sense of the word. But by golly, it was the most "convenient" way to take the game on-the-go in 1990.

Above is the commercial for this dubious imitation, which tries way to hard to make the game appear more than it actually is. It's a neat little blast from the past, one which I bet fewer Mega Man fans are familiar with.

Thanks to SuperMega233 for helping me dig this one up!

  2. I *despised* those things. My TI-86 had better games that those....literally.

  3. I wish I could play Mega Man while jumping around like a nut job in a dirty alley way.

  4. What did I just watch? XD I kinda got a headache with all the zooming in and out. lol! Oh, those late 80s, early 90s commercials.

Very tacky-looking game. It looks to be right up there with those ridiculous DOS games they released sometime in the 90s.

  5. Ah, I remember that commercial. I thought "Dr. Wily" was the crab monster.

  6. I don't see how this even remotely resembles MM2, it just seems like one of those handheld games that you would get from McDonalds (I had a Super Monkey Ball one once), where you just dodged and shoot at things to collect points.

At least Mega's face in the screen kind of looks like the original... Just kind of.

  7. I've always had an unnatural hatred for Tiger games. I don't really know why. Game & Watch not so much, but that's probably because I've only ever played them in the Game & Watch Gallery games.

That being said... this one looked surprisingly okay.

  8. Hey, when I was a desperate five-year-old with a broken NES, those little Tiger handheld jobbies were my freakin' lifelines.

God forbid I read a book or get good at sports or something.

  10. I actually played quite a few of those when I was in grade school. Castlevania, Vindicators, Gauntlet, Batman. All enjoyable in a very simplistic way. Ironically, it wasn't until about 15 years later that I picked up the Megaman 2 version :D

  12. Don't worry, if this was made in Japan and shit, everyone here would be raving about "how awesome it was" and shit like that.
