With Rockman Maniax out of the way, one has to wonder what Hitoshi Ariga's been up to. Way back in October the artist teased he's "currently working on a new Mega Man project." Unfortunately, he didn't specify if it was a new manga, a new art book, or, dare I say, a new Mega Man game.
Eager to learn more about the project, I recently shot Ariga a friendly little tweet. I wasn't expected a reply but, sure enough, I got one. It's not much -- his words at least confirm the project is still in development, which is totally reassuring:
That's all he had to say. We're still in the dark, but hopefully that won't be the case for too much longer.
Bear in mind, Hitoshi Ariga is a very versatile asset to Capcom. He's worked on various manga, oversaw the development of the Mega Man and Mega Man X Official Complete Works art books, and even provided art for countless official soundtracks. What's more, a recent comment made during an interview with UDON Entertainment suggests he's "also helping with some game work." So, really, this new project could turn out to be anything.
That said, it's probably wise to keep those expectations at a minimum. Still, feel free to speculate!
game, please.
ReplyDeleteI hope this project will be worth the wait...
ReplyDeletehope a new game, again ._.
ReplyDeleteI'm so completely minimum in my expectations, it's not even funny. I hit rock bottom months ago.
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but Ariga has done game art already, hasn't he? Rockman and Forte on the Super Famicom?
ReplyDeleteMy guess? One or more of the following:
ReplyDeleteRockman: The T-Shirt
Rockman: The Coloring Book
Rockman: The Lunch Box
Rockman: The Breakfast Cereal
Rockman: THE FLAME THROWER
(the kids love this one)
and last, but not least-
Rockman: The Doll
(*squeezes doll, which proceeds to sing "SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT..... MEGA MAN!").
Adorable.
People are expecting a game, and will probably get their hopes too high and become majorly disappointed. This is why hype is often a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteMe, I love Ariga's stuff, so whatever it turns out to be, I'll like it. Manga or artbook, I won't mind if it turns out to be either.

"I hit rock bottom months ago."
>>>"ROCK bottom"
I FUCKING SEE WHAT YOU DID THAR
"That said, it's probably wise to keep those expectations at a minimum"
ReplyDeleteIf you REALLY wanted to expectations at minimum you shoulldnt have cited a chance for a new game...
@Saikyo
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's really sad when the idea of a video game company making a video game is considered false hope... And people call us spoiled for the fact that we noticed.
@k0n4
Ah yes, where the REAL money from the franchise is made. XD
Meh. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not even going to bother entertaining the thought that this project has anything to do with a new game.
ReplyDelete@Crazy Monkey
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
Though I will be happy if it is anything art related since I love Ariga's artwork. We'll just have to wait an see. :3
Uh...no one excited about perhaps a new Mega Man manga?
ReplyDeleteMega Man Mega Mix game. Or even better yet: a Mega Mix anime. O_O God, that'd be awesome.
ReplyDeleteOr a new manga. XD
@PC: I myself would like it to be a new manga series.
ReplyDeleteAriga just mentioned about this project on his DeviantArt journal too.
A Megaman Legends anime. That would fill that horrid gap Capcom left in my life.
ReplyDelete@ k0n4
ReplyDeleteI seriously laughed so hard at that.
I hope if it's a manga we won't have to wait six months to a year for the translation.
