Yes folks, our favorite long lost brother is set to make his grand debut in issue #17 of Archie's Mega Man. It's finally Proto Man time.
(W) Ian Flynn (A) Gary Martin & Various (CA) Chad Thomas & Various.
MEGA MAN # 17 ‘Proto-Type,’ Part 1. The story of Mega Man’s long lost brother, Blues (a.k.a. Proto Man), starts here! What was it that drove a wedge between the first self-aware robot and the benevolent Dr. Light? Then, in ‘Construction Derby,’ Guts Man gets some not-so-friendly competition in the form of Concrete Man!
We're a ways away before this one lands in our mailboxes and newsstands, unfortunately. In the meantime, I suppose we'll just have to look forward to the inevitable preview pages! Color me excited.

Is it just me, or did the colorist change for the covers? I… can’t say I like the coloring of the right one. It seems… off.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time! I've been wanting for Proto Man to show up since he was first mentioned in the first story arc. I'm so loving this comic.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about this issue!
ReplyDeleteI saw the name Gary Martin. I almost went bananas.
ReplyDeleteThen I remembered it couldn't possibly be THAT Gary Martin. =/
1. Chad Thomas's cover is epic. I'm amazed at how much I've grown to love his art.
ReplyDelete2. I hatehatehatehateHATE the new logo style they've started using since issue 16. It looks really bad...
3. The variant cover is nothing special at all, and that's a bit disappointing. We keep getting awesome villain and sketch variants, and this time, we get a "team-up variant"? Bleh.
4. I love that they're bringing in the MM9 Robot Masters because it makes sense. They go bad because they don't want to expire, and that implies they've been around for a long time. So let's bring them in now!
5. It does worry me a bit however that the issues are going to a "Story A" and "Story B" format... If only because that means the main story is going to be cut even shorter. But it also opens up the door for expanding the world and focusing on side characters, so I guess it'll be alright in the end...

ReplyDeleteI assume you are on about the Gary Martin that founded The Sinister Six group?
That would have been awesome, such a shame that he is no longer with us...
On topic: I kinda like the cover art, nice to see they are getting around to including Protoman~
Concreteman? That's kind of cool...
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't completely destroy Blues' origin story. I mean, it's pretty simple... He was built, then he found out he was a flawed prototype, assumed the worst, and ran away. It's not that hard.

That is an extremely depressing coincidence, I have to say.
Yeah, finally Blues/Proto Man gets his comic debut! But Concrete Man...robot from MM9 appearing already!? So that means its not going to go like the original games like Sonic then? ...Oh well, at least Archie keeps it alive than having the traitor Capcom killing it.
ReplyDeleteConcrete Man? Whoa.
ReplyDeleteWell, MM9 did not say Dr. Light's robots weren't built long before MM9, it only said they were Dr. Light's. And honestly, Concrete Man does seem sort of like an older design.

ReplyDeleteI think Archie is throwing the serial number system (DLN, DWN, SRN, etc.) out the window for the sake of making interesting side-storylines which don't interrupt the flow of the main storylines too much. Like the thing with Pharaohman and Quakewoman, for example.
