When you teach for a living, all you want to do is get home and crash on a Monday afternoon. But I couldn't crash; a knock on my door disturbed my brief slumber. To my surprise, a UPS man handed me a flat, albeit slightly large package... from Capcom USA. I wasn't expected anything -- or was I? A quick tear there and a little rip here, I made my way inside the package. One gentle tug and bam:
Why, it was my commemorative gift from the Mega Man Legends 3 team! Pleasantly surprised? YES.
So, yeah; this is the present coming to Wester Devroom members whose work was selected to appear in Legends 3. I also received one Servbot mobile cleaner -- a good originally planned for distribution at Capcom's summer 3DS event in Akihabara, which was cancelled in the wake of the Touhoku disaster.
And for those asking, yes: Elysium is on the backside. Check it out. Some say it's just a speech bubble, but I believe otherwise. You see, the entire surface of the backside is adorned with shimmering sparkles and glitter, likely representing stars/space. It's a real nice touch.
Love the gift, but I'm a little peeved about the condition it arrived in. You can't quite see it, but the item has numerous bends and creases along the surface and a nasty gash along the upper-right side. If you're expecting this item too, be aware it may not arrive in perfect condition.
That aside, I am really grateful for the gift. Not sure if it's a photocopy or real ink, but it looks fantastic in person!
I didn't get a Servbot cleaner in mine. Was yours even in the package? I sent Gregaman something about it but IDK if he can do anything.
ReplyDeleteMine was in the package. I didn't notice it at first because it was so small.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to make me sound stupid but what the hell is a mobile cleaner?
ReplyDeleteIt's a screen cleaner on a chain. You can loop through a little hinge on the 3DS.
ReplyDeleteHuh... well, I'll check again, but I hope that it's there because I don't wanna wait another week for something that should have come with my prize in the first place. Otherwise, I love this prize.
ReplyDeleteThis is so old news. I've heard of others gotten theirs like a month ago or weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, what a rip, for all your hard work all you get is a drawing and phone cleaner??? Lame...
Kindness is very useful than much hatred. It conquers all.
ReplyDelete@Anon 4:
ReplyDeleteThe Western version of the reparation is old news? Yeah, Japan got there's a while ago, but this is NEWS.
This is not old news anon. What part of WESTERN gift did you not understand?
ReplyDeleteCant view the pictures in the links. Something about domain blocked login.

ReplyDeleteThey're imageshack links. Should be working for everyone.
"This is so old news."
ReplyDeleteOh, great one from the future, tell us more of Protodude's mail that has yet to arrive in this time.
If I was a lot less reasonable, I would ask Protodude to send a drawing back saying "FUCK YOU" "Megaman Legends 3 Fans"
Also, this is going into my collection of stolen art. I have a picture of Zero drawn by Ariga I printed out, which is the only time I've used my printer for something besides coupons or FAQs.

@ Rockman
ReplyDeleteWow someone kept the big one.
I really hope no one tries to pass that scan of mine off as the real deal .n.;; As annoyed as I am with capcom; I still love my ORIGINAL Zero picture to bits <3 Nothin beats meeting Ariga because he's a very nice guy.
Mine hasn't come in yet. I hope my luck isn't bad on this one and they forgot about me (and maybe others) =P. I didn't read the entire article. I wish to be surprised. XD
ReplyDelete@Gadget I can't really stop someone from printing out the signed one. I guess me posting a clean version of it doesn't help, does it? Anyway, my printed one I took off the signature because it's for personal use and I don't want it confused for a signed copy. Then again it could be seen as removing credit. I just like it so much since I've wanted an Ariga Zero for a while now.

By the way, do you have a bigger scan of it? Same question to Protodude, even though his wasn't a scan.
I'm curious, what did you do that was supposed to go into the game?

ReplyDeleteI won the townspeople event. I had to design an NPC's personality.
Excellent! UPS just drove up in my yard. At first I thought, "I didn't order anything UPS?" but then seeing the shape of the large bubble envelope, it came to me. I have to say, I didn't expect the picture to be on such a firm, cardboard cutout with a spiffy gold rim. I also think the Servbot mobile thing is as cute as can be. I also agree that it's Elysium on the back. Has to be. The sparkles here and there on the back are probably stars. =3
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the game getting cancelled...this is a pretty nice, meaningful gift. Looking at it kinda makes you want to say "You're very welcome. =)"
Yes, that is Elysium on the back.
ReplyDeleteWhere MegaMan will remain. For all eternity.
Sweet, I just got mine too (it had one cleaner as well). Thankfully mine is in much nicer condition than yours, sorry about that man, that really stinks. I am 98% sure that this is a hand drawing as well. I can see on the block lettering where the rough pass was made (is darker) and the lettering was then blocked over that. Also, my drawing is slightly different from yours (lettering is different) but most noticeably, mine has an extra pair of dashes around the hands. Reference pic:

I'm seriously considering getting this framed.
wow..thats a pretty lame gift from capcom for cancelling a game they hyped up and dropped out of nowhere.
ReplyDeleteYeah, mine's a little different too. Slightly different, and I can feel a slight indentation where the artist pressed a bit hard with the marker. When viewing it in dim lighting, actually, I think I can even see pencil marks shining from underneath the ink. I'm nearly a hundred percent sure it's a legitimate original drawing from...er...I'm not sure who drew it, actually. I really wish I knew!
ReplyDeleteI got mine in the mail today. It was shipped in a padded FedEx envelope...so, of course, it had a massive crease/fold down the center. It's a wonderful gift, but still bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteMine had some bends in it, but in overall great condition. Thankfully the front wasn't damaged at all. I can confirm mine is slightly different as well. All seem to be hand drawn and each unique =). I am considering framing it as well, but framing is kinda pricey. Might find a cheap one and do it myself. So even though we still want the game and hope it returns to production one day, we can be thankful we have these special gifts! I just hope some poor fool doesn't go and put one up on eBay. -_- lol
ReplyDeleteIf you want to frame it for cheap I recommend getting one of those LP record frames (it's sold in a local crafts store here). Or here (http://www.amazon.com/MCS-Record-Album-Display-Aluminum/dp/B001EBHM1O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1319027010&sr=8-2).
ReplyDeleteThat one is a metal frame, others are plastic I'd spring for the metal frame.
It's a little bigger than the drawing so get a stock frame matts from a art store, trim it to fit and display.
