Bandai's Tamashii Nation event is kicking off this November in Japan, and among the new figures they plan to display is a new, special edition of the D-Arts Rockman X figure.Dubbed "Comic Version", this new figure is meant to resemble Yoshihiro Iwamoto’s Rockman X, a more stylized version of the character based off Iwamoto's famed manga. "Comic Version" boast an entirely new face plate, featuring big 'ol anime eyes. Body parts have been repainted as well, such as the addition of platinum lining along the helmet. Those features aside, there are no other significant alterations to the design.
The figure is currently priced at ¥3,500 (roughly $45.00). Details concerning potential alternate accessories are forth coming. No word regarding localization, although I will be contacting my go-to Bandai guy for comment. Stay tuned!

I prefer Ikehara's X adaptions. But this is still neat actually.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I can't help but think that they're just looking for new ways to make their X figures sell, by introducing newer versions... If Metallic version was any indication of that.

I love Iwamoto's Rockman X manga, but the face on this figures looks just weird. I'm good with my regular X. I'll pass on this one.

Any way to ask Bandai directly about this? (plans to make more figures)

ReplyDeleteIt was the last place in the world I expected to see a Japanese Rockman figure.
Is this really a surprise? Bandai did the exact same thing with the previous line of X figures. There was one figure of Vile, one Bit, a couple of Return X/iX, three of Zero and over 30 variations on X.
