Joining the ever-growing library of PlayStation Network PSone Imports is none other than the Complete Works version of Rockman 4. The official PlayStation blog reports the game will launch on Tuesday, September 6 in North America. Product summary below:
"For a year the city has been quiet, but a new robotic terror has gripped the city. That scheming scientist Dr. Cossack has arrived in town with eight new metal maniacs who are bigger and badder than anything Dr. Wily ever dreamed of.
It’s going to be a cybernetic showdown as the streets of the city erupt with the sizzling sounds of molten metal! Armed with the new Mega Buster, Mega Man runs, jumps and dodges his way through mazes of metallic munchkins on his way to the Siberian citadel of Dr. Cossack for the findl cataclysmic clash!"
As usual, the game will remain in its native Japanese language. That shouldn't be too much a problem gameplay wise, but navigating those in-game menus may prove difficult for some. For those folks, I recommend checking out Rockman Perfect Memories' Mode Select Guide. Great source to get you to your destination in a jiffy!
Rockman 4 is expected to retail for $5.99. If I'm not mistaken, PlayStation Plus members can snag the game at a bit of a discount, although those details were not disclosed.

Sweet! That's my favorite Rockman game!
ReplyDeleteAh, the best Rockman game hands down.
ReplyDelete@1st anon: Mine too!! I emulate the play1 version via epsxe, hell yeah!
ReplyDeletenot too fond of re-releasing old games while not making new ones, but at least these versions never came to america (completely) and instead of pulling a legends, they are actualy continuing this.
ReplyDelete*insert generic comment about this game being canceled due to derogitory Capcom name here*
ReplyDeleteBut really, I'm tempted to get these ports. I'd be moreso tempted if I could even acess the #@$%*&^ PSN login screen.
The first Mega Man game I ever owned, This would be great to have on the go. Definitely getting it once I buy another PSN card.
ReplyDeleteI... I know I should probably be excited for something like this, but the original Rockman series... is easily my least favorite. Heck, I've not even beat RM9 yet...
ReplyDeleteEh, I dunno. Maybe if we got some enhanced ports or something it'd look like they were considering reinvesting into the franchise, but right now... it's just making cash on old titles that don't appeal to me at least... and in this case not even translating them....
At the same time, though... I kind of wonder - maybe they can't bring over the localized version? I mean, not in the single-game only format, at least... did RM4 ever get a release outside of the NES? Maybe it's a matter of being platformed locked or something, dunno...
Well, to close this rant I guess... This is great for the fans of the original series, I guess, but... I'd still like to see something new, you know? Everything new so far has been canceled... something like this just... it really isn't enough to raise my faith after what's happened...
a port... of a port... hmm... why does this seem... familliar? OH! that's right! phoenix wright! and let's not forget the shooting star rockman port from GBA to DS! wait, whatever happened to the aniversary collection? oh yeah! releasing the games individualy prints money! thanks again portcom! take that money and wipe your butts with it!

ReplyDeleteThe complete works games were never fully localized, save for the navigation mode messages which appeared in the US Anniversary Collection.
These games are enhanced ports, mostly in regards to 4-6. The most prominent new features the latter trilogy has, are powerup parts like X5 and 6, and completely rearranged soundtracks.
There's tons of features that make these games the definitive versions of the 1st six games, so don't just write them off as simple ports made to generate revenue.
Speaking of ports, at least we're getting decent ports for our games...
I seriously wish we got decent ports for the rival schools series, and a better port for power stone.
The PSP ver. of Power Stone had horrendous loading times, and requiring multiple copies of an already obscure game kills the multiplayer aspect, which is an important part of any fighting game.
And with Rival Schools we need a decent port period, because people deserve a chance to play some of Capcom's best fighting games.
An enhanced port for the PS1, not for the PS3. This is nothing more than a re-release of an old, already existing game, as I had said before. After all, it's a PS1 import. As in, unchanged in over ten years - to qualify now as an enhanced port, it'd have to be enhanced for a current gen console.
ReplyDeleteThis is nothing new. It's just a game they made long ago and released in japan. They throw it our way, don't bother even translating it, and hope we buy it.
I might just get this if there is another sale just like they did for Rockman 1-3.
ReplyDeleteFYI, PS+ members do not get a discount on the import store anymore. Why I do not know. Still worth the $5.99USD I paid for it though ;)
