Are the imports still mostly playable, or is there part of the game that the lack of English language support makes it impossible to understand what's going on?
ReplyDeleteI started to buy MM1-3 months ago, but my understanding was that they were still in Japanese and I was afraid I'd have trouble navigating menus or some other crap because everything was in Japanese so I never bought them.
probably compensation for @#$%^ing mega man fans over so badly. well, if you're going to get it, best to get it while the price tag is low. at least you're showing capcom you like mega man without just throwing money at them needlesly. although i don't think most fans will forgive because of this, it's a step in the right direction at least.
ReplyDelete1st Anon:
ReplyDeleteThe only bits of Japanese that may be troubling are the intial menus. Someone made a guide to navigating those a little while back; I'll look around.
Other than that, they imports are entirely playable. It's just a matter of getting the game started.
Honestly, for the most part, the average player isn't going to be using most of the menus and stuff in the three Rockman PS1 games.
ReplyDeleteFirst choice on the main menu is "Normal game" and second is "Navi Mode". Practically the same Navi mode as Anniversary Collection. Only you must hold down Select before choosing Navi Mode in order to turn on the remixed songs. (or ripped from Rockman Power Battles/Fighters music, in these cases)
The other choices, like Gallery and Pocket Station stuff, is not exactly possible for the PS3. So you might as well forget they're there.
Oh, and keep in mind, Japanese games use CIRCLE for confirm and X as cancel.
ReplyDelete@amir yeah, i noticed that with some games. don't understand why. makes some imports confusing.
ReplyDeleteAre the PocketStation extras even in this game? It's a shame they left them out of the Anniversary Editions.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for Henger83 to translate the Psx versions. :( Just went to his page and his Rockman Complete Works videos are gone :((((. He did add some new Rockman related stuff though...hmm.
1st anon here, again.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. I might end up picking up 2 and 3, at least.
Damn, that does sound like a pretty damn good deal for Mega Man 1-3. I think I may just pick them up. It's too bad they aren't translated. Oh well, at least Katakana isn't that hard to read.
ReplyDelete@Shin Star:
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly enough, the Pocket Station are left intact. The thing is, unless you have the attachments to use a real Pocket Station on your PS3, it's not usable.
@Anon:
Actually, it makes more sense when you think about it.
In Japan, when grading or choosing things. A circle is used for correct/approval, while an X is used for disapproval. It makes sense that the PS1-3 games in Japan also use this for the buttons.
One thing to note while using Navi Mode on Rockman 3 with the Remix Music. (hold select before choosing Navi Mode on Main Menu to activate) Sometimes the "Robot Master theme" that occurs before the stage begins will be completely silent, and sometimes it will work. Also, much like Anniversary, don't be surprised that some songs are NOT remixed at all. If a Robot Master had it's theme in Rockman the Power Battles or Rockman 2 the Power Fighters, then it's possible their song was/is ported to the remixes. If not, it will just play their 8-bit regular songs.
Just letting you guys know. :)
I used this sale to get Megaman 9 with all the DLC (my Wii got bricked years ago and I lost all my Megaman 9 data from the Wii, so this was nice for me), and set a PS Play pre-order for SFIII 3rd Strike OE.
Before someone bashes and goes "ZOMG BOYCOTT KAPUKOM!!" I'll say my piece.
Personally, I can't TRULY boycott Capcom, mainly because I'm a not just a big fan of Rockman, but also a fighting game player. Hell, I play the stuff competitively for money and shit, so it's something I like to do.
Just saiyan.
@Amir:
ReplyDeleteNo pocketstation, just saiyan?
SAD FOR YOUUUUUUUU!
You know what would be great? If they got around to porting CW4-6.
X series-esque parts, helmetless Rock, (almost) COMPRETELY remixed soundtracks... The latter 3 CW titles were insanely good.
StarMan in particular got an insane-o remix, which serves as another example of the great music that made the most of us fall in love with Capcom games in the first place.
Battle and Chase's Kaze yo Tsutaete? X1's pass screen? Zero 2's Departure? Zero 3's Everlasting Red? SSFII's Hong Kong theme? SFEXplus@'s Precious Heart? Half of the tracks featured in Project Justice? DMC4's Forza del Destino?
@BalN:
ReplyDeleteThe Pocket Station works and is all intact. You just need an actual Pocket Station and an adaptor to use PS1/PS2 memory cards on PS3.

You misspelt "sayin'" as "saiyan", so I felt like being a total wiseacre.
I'm well aware about the accessiblity of PS1 and PS2 memory units (including the PokeSation with the PS3. It felt great not having to hit "new game" on quite a few games.
... I'm looking at you, Ehrgeiz.
@Anonymous: "probably compensation for @#$%^ing mega man fans over so badly."
ReplyDeleteYeah, the ones who own a PS3. Makes you wonder, if Mega Man Legends 3 was being made for a Sony console like the last two (plus the Tron Bonne game) maybe it wouldn't have been canceled at all.
Sorry, I may have bought a 3DS (after MML3's "cancellation") so I could play games I already own, but I'm not about to do so for a Sony system. That system is the most epic failure in video game history since the Virtual Boy.
