It's the early hours of August 19 in Japan right now, and that means it's only a matter of time. The Japanese Devroom, the very pillar of Rockman DASH 3's development in the East, officially shuts its doors later today. The developer blog and forums will be terminated at 12:00 Japan time; roughly eight hours from this writing.
Although activity on both sites ceased as of July 18, Capcom left the sites open to spread word of the game's cancellation. A month later, they're ready to pull the plug. A good ol' 404 is expected to replace all pages associated with DASH 3 in a matter of hours. [UPDATE: It's dead. 12:00 on the nose.]
Fortunately, the North American Devroom, hosted at Capcom Unity, will survive the purge. GregaMan has previously assured fans the forum and blogs will remain open indefinitely, and it continues to thrive in spite of Legends 3's cancellation, powered solely by the fans.
Those looking to hold onto the Japanese site's assets, look no further than Legends-Station. User Eric Chiz has compiled several file's worth of data, available for download at the preceding link. Nab 'em quickly before the files up and expire.
The Devroom had an amazing run. The dev team has my heartfelt gratitude for all their hard work. Wishing them all the best.
Just downloaded everything.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the site go; like Chiz said, it feels like all it'll accomplish is burying everyone's hard work.
Look, how the dreams of many fans around the world are totally shattered with a company's single decision. Capcom gave us hope, and now buries it beneath lots of money maker games: "Unlimited Street Fighter vs. Bloody Roar", "Resident Evil: Reconciliations", "DmC: Driving my Car", and many others, that fail to have that we were looking for: A game made with heart.
ReplyDeleteI would rather drown in aardvark piss than to see the Legends 3 project slowly die. If it's done for eternity and they aren't heeding our pleas regardless of hearing/reading them, then there is no point at all to keep anything Legends 3 open. US or Japan. I mean, I still hope that one day Legends 3 will return to production but leaving stuff up forever will probably turn into bitter memories, even with all the sweet ones. =/

ReplyDeleteHey now, I love my Bloody Roar. Capcom need not touch it lol. Unless...they are going to work with Eighting again to make a 5. =D (Eighting developed the fighting engine for BR and helped Capcom with TvC and MvC3)
I'd hate to be a downer but...

Wow...
I feel sad. Guess I wanted the game more than I realised.. Even if I'm not that big of a Legends fan ('cause I never had a PS/N64 to play it on), I'm still a MegaMan fan and would have loved to play it.
ReplyDelete*salutes* (sob)
ReplyDeleteOf course, it's only a matter of time before it all is archived in the WayBack machine, so if all the back-ups aren't complete, someone should take a gander over there in a few weeks or so and back it up that way.
ReplyDeleteSad to see a dream that once fans thought up taken down by the evils like Capcom. This is what happens when a company makes a bad decision and decides to slam the doors on fans like as if they treat them with no respect, honor, care or happiness.
ReplyDeleteI can see how Capcom will surely fail after this happens. And Capcom will surely get a crapload of hate for this move. I don' think I have to go farther than that. :'(
A game that is well cared, creative, original, supportive of its fans, thoughtful, enjoyable, and has alot of fan support will turn out great in the end like Sonic Generations and Rayman Origins. A game that is just to make cash will always end up in shit. Like what happens when you don't get the creative talents of Douglas Tenappel (who did Neverhood and Earthworm Jim) to do Earthworm Jim 3D (Bad) or overendorse the franchise like Street Fighter somewhat. It's sad that the Dev room is going now.
R.I.P. DevRoom
Well, this will close all oportunities for Japanese fans to attempt to revive the game, I guess it's all up to us Americans from now on...
ReplyDeleteCURSE YOU CAPCOM! CURSE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
Capcom fails even to give a proper excuse for the cancellation. They aren't even mentioning it, probably expecting for the people to calm down and forget about it within time. If the fans kept asking for the sequel over 10 years, managed to get it under development, and it's suddenly cancelled without explanations (and with the prototype lie and "the blame game"), it's more likely to increase instead of decreasing, and it's large amount considering involved there are both the long-time fans and the new generations that expected two new games from a series that were cancelled in a row involved. Actually, the only think I imagine decreasing for Capcom is their sales with all the boycotting. Plus, the N3DS will probably be harmed (more than it already is) with all of that.
ReplyDelete@Jez: Capcom can't admit that their boss is a heartless devil-zombie-vampire hybrid that was infected by a virus during a street fight in Metro City sometime between 2005-2010. They tried to call exorcists, goddesses, super-heroes, attorneys, and even a movie star in a attempt to get their boss back to normal, but had no luck so far.
@Iamarfll: I have a few unfortunate things to say to G4 about that one, but the truth is the fan-base WAS there, but regardless of what Capcom says, they seem to be distancing themselves from all of Inafune's pet projects. It's sad, really.
ReplyDeleteThat whole video makes me want to unfollow them on Twitter, and ironically they actually follow me, lol.
Attention! Attention all Servbots!
ReplyDeleteIf you have some free time, go here...:
http://liveweb.archive.org/http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockman/dash3/devroom/
...and try to visit as many pages as possible in the Japanese devroom with the Wayback Machine to make sure every page is saved, including comments and images (there are many cool fanarts around.)
LET'S DO IT!!!
The devroom is no longer working...
ReplyDeleteno duh, anon. Check the update.
ReplyDeleteWow...just drowing the site to hell like they enjoying disappointing us fans soooo bad... Hell, and now what, blame on lord Inafune for quitting the job? Screw you Capcom!! Shame on you guys!!!
ReplyDelete@lamarfll That’s nothing new. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb hate everything that isn't an M rated shooter
