'Legends Never Die' Campaign Kicks Off

An air of uncertainty has nestled within our midst. A looming, ominous fear of the unknown has set our community ablaze, incited by a series of events surrounding the future of Mega Man Legends 3. There's no denying it: things have quieted down on the Legends 3 front. While we're confident in its progress, there is certainly some concern about what's going on with the game, and it's left us on the edge of our seats. If you feel the same, then we've got a mission to carry out.

Welcome aboard, friends, to the Legends Never Die campaign, a massive, joint operation between myself, Legends-Station, and The Mega Man Network. Our goal is simple, albeit powerful. Together, as a community, we will keep Capcom aware of how much we want MML3 and ensure it remains in the spotlight. Let it be made clear, we are not afraid about the game being cancelled, no; we are simply closing off any route that might lead to that outcome. As Devroom members, our responsibilities go far beyond thinking of ideas and responding to the Devteam. We are marketing, we are PR, we are consumers, and most of all, we are fans.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to snail-mail Capcom. Using pre-designed postcard templates, we are tasking you to mail Capcom your demands to see Mega Man Legends 3 completed. The postcards are your vehicle to Capcom's offices. They will get to the hands of many higher-ups, so you've got to make your message clear and powerful. Personalize it. Pour your heart and soul into it. You've waited a little over a decade for this thing thing; show Capcom just how much you want Legends 3 to happen!

All the details after the jump!

For your consideration, here are the postcards you will use, each attributed to a Servbot's facial expression.
Print out one (or more), and write your sentiment on them. Please keep your message civil. I know how passionate some of you can be, but that doesn't mean you should make any threats. That's not the point of this in the least. Keep it clean, keep it safe, and most importantly, be smart about what you say. We don't want to tick anyone off. Just the opposite. We want Capcom to feel how deep our desire to return to the world of Legends is; to once again sail the skies with Roll and Data, thwart the Bonnes, and make some new friends along the way.

A postcard is useless without an address, so do get equipped with the following:

Capcom Entertainment, Inc.
800 Concar Drive, Suite 300
San Mateo, CA 94402

Who to address it to? Well, you've a handful of options. You can't go wrong with Devroom liaison Greg "GregaMan" Moore, but it also couldn't hurt to shoot one to Seth Killian, Christian Svensson and Shawn Baxter. Oh what the heck, just send them one each! We're thinking of a three week-long time frame to send the postcards, so if you are able, try to get on it ASAP!

We've spent the last few days planning the Legends Never Die movement, so bear with us as we finalize future projects and aspirations. Next up on our agenda, we're planning on opening a central hub for fans to converge and "scheme" together. That part is a little ways off, but in the meantime, you've got some work to do of your own.

Mega Man fans across the world, I implore you to unite under our cause. Not just for the sake of Legends 3, but for the sake of the franchise itself. We have to ban together and show Capcom there is an audience out there, and it's hungry for more Blue Bomber.

Spread the word; we're taking this one to Capcom.

  1. Yeah that's nice and all but at the end of the day they'll get tossed in the fire place.

Heck just ask the movement to Xenoblade a North American release how their campaign went.

Capcom will either release this or they won't. Letters from a few irate fans aren't going to make an ounce of difference.

  4. How does one print a postcard? All I have is standard printer paper.

    ReplyDelete
  5. You can print it just like that. I send out "postcards" all the time. Just print it out on regular paper.

  7. Good to hear, sir. It'd be great if you can put in a good word with the OP:R heads. We gotta spread this around.

  8. Well, Capcom of Japan still have Rockman Dash 3 on their site.

  10. While your at it why dont you help us with Operation Rising Beetle! To help bring Medabots back to the states. More info here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Medabots_Corporation/topic/4350033/1/

  11. Heh, so this is what you were talking about.

It would be great for members of Operation Rainfall to help out as well. But I think in order to be truly successful, this can't be an English-only effort.

Rainfall seems to be falling on deaf ears at NoA. In comparison, this is concerning a game that does not appear to be green-lighted yet, and our target is stationed half a world away...

  12. Mailing out five today.

  13. Do you think an e-mail is ok? I live in Brazil and I don't think my postcard would make it in 3 weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You can do both, Henrcast. We'll more than likely be extending the campaign beyond three weeks.

  16. Printed out a version of each post card and plan on sending them all friday!

    We need more people!

  17. Not that I look down at fan movements, but isn't it a bit of paranoia and overreacting just because Capcom went a little quiet on their games? They won't always provide us with a 24/7 status update on a game's progress.

  18. *sigh* It's times like this that I wish my close friends liked Rockman as much as I do, (enough to care about this...) Regardless, I'll send off a few letters and then post a link to this article on my dA page to help get the word out.

  19. Hey P-Dude, what if I'm a fan from outside the States or if I can't mail them one?

    Do e-mails count?

  20. Thanks everyone for their support! I'll be sending in my letters tomorrow, Go Mega Man!

  21. MusashiAA:

Absolutely. There's a direct Capcom e-mail address you can find on their site However, if you can, try to send a letter. Don't worry about it not arriving on time within the time frame.

WHO IS WITH ME!!!

  23. @locoman300

    Fuck Capcom.

Now go back and replay X4 like a good fan of a niche franchise. Because we're not getting anything better than what we have.

  27. http://gbatemp.net/t301868-megaman-legends-3-cancelled

uh, too bad, guys. it's cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This cancellation is just all the more reason to continue this campaign! Look, Capcom cancelled the game because they don't think it'd get a lot of attention or sales. Granted, only a complete IDIOT would think this, considering fan response in the first place, but if we keep this up and keep sending these, maybe they'll realize how much people want this and un-cancel it? I realize it's a longshot, but it's worth a try, right? I also think we need to send these over to Japan, since it IS Capcom Japan who made the decision.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Shouldn't we maybe also target the Japanese Capcom...? Or get some Japanese fans to do the same but for their respective heads? I mean... It's Capcom of JAPAN making the game, not Capcom of America...

    ReplyDelete
  30. That's no good reason to stop doing this. Frig, that's a better reason to START. Why did Mega Man Network take their post about this down? Now is the time to make this happen!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. The MM network took down their post? Wtf? Aren't we doing this anymore? I'll spend $42 on letters to annoy the hell out of Capcom!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Crystal: Considering CoJ is producing the game and CoA is only translating it, certainly! The worst CoA could do is make a bad or lazy localization.

  33. Mr. Protodude:

There has been a large interest expressed across the Internets for the campaign. Some are more concentrated than others. You're already familiar with Legends station throwing in it's support, but there are a number of other pages that hope to get invested.

    A rather popular facebook page:
    http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/100000-Strong-for-Bringing-Back-Mega-Man-Legends-3/149316248475958

    A youtube channel:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/MML3Revival?feature=mhee

And various disgruntled fans across the internet who have yet to hear about, or throw their support in for the project. I've been working the past day to get communication going between everyone, to get all the fans on the same page, but word is still speading of teh cancellation and, well, I was hoping that by contacting the Big Three I'd be able to get some help in that. :)

In particular, I've been keeping tab son the facebook page, and there's lots of plans being thrown around. Some want to go to Otakon, and show their disapproval in person at the Megaman panel - not anything vular, of course, just a distrbution of flyers, voicing their opinions, and - most importantly - getting the fans together. This, especially, seems like something that could bare fruit: there are currently four or five fans wanting to see this happen, all of them ready to go to Otakon.

Meanwhile, there's still ongoing discussion on the Legends Station forum, and they've received a good bit of traffic since yesterday's announcement. If there's anything else a single Anon like me could be doing, well, I'm more than ready for it. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you so much, Protodude! I've been looking for those letterheads everywhere! I'll send my letters out as soon as the sun rises!

MegaMan fans of the world, UNITE!! =D

This is what we fight for!!

  36. Hey everybody, guess what. I just went and posted comments on youtube to tell megaman lovers to go to this website. I told them that there are comments that were said by capcom you wouldn't believe. Also, we should "invade" the japanese capcom too.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I already sent in my letters. ^_^

Between this and the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Legends 3 campaign on Facebook, Capcom's definitely taking notice.

    "Like" Mega Man Legends 3!

  38. I really, seriously hope that this doesn't end up looking like spam, but I just wanted to mention that those who want to get their postcard professionally printed, either because of having no printer or for a better presentation, can do so here - http://www.print-services.org . They cover both the US and the UK, and are quite cheap (and there's an option for two sizes of postcard).

The best bet is to size your chosen image to 11cm high by 15cm wide, and save it as a JPEG using an image-editing program, and then use the "A6" sized postcard option on the website. Check the radio-button to have the image fill the page from left to right, so that no borders are present, before removing all of the optional example text on the front and back, which will leave you with a ready-to-write postcard.

I ordered mine yesterday, and will send it to Capcom as soon as it arrives. Good luck, everyone.
