Tomorrow, June 9th, is Rokku Day in Japan. As outlined by Devroom liaison Greg, the ninth day in June yields the following pun: "in Japanese, "6" (roku) and "9" (ku) are pronounced "rokku" when combined. Moreover, MegaMan's name in Japan is "Rokku."Rockman Day has quickly become a bit of a holiday amidst the Japanese fanbase. Beginning as an internet meme around two years ago, a variety of fansites and blogs recognize the day, albeit without a specific means of celebration. Nevertheless, the Devroom, in honor of the day, is planning a surprise.
Rockman DASH 3's main composer, Uratani, was appointed as the "Chief Rokku Day Stirrer-Upper", a task that will take him off of his regular composing duties to try his hand a running the devroom tomorrow. As such, according to Kinako, he'll be preparing a treat for Rokku Day.
With Uratani leading Rockman Day, there's a subtle implication tomorrow's surprise is music related. A taste of the game's soundtrack, perhaps? We'll find out in less than twenty-four hours!

ReplyDeleteGuys, of course it's gonna be that the MegaMan 9 secret will be revealed when you transfer data from X9, MM11, Zero5, BN7 and MegaMan's soccer 2 (on the 3DS) to Super Ultra Hyper Mega Giga Omni MegaRockman giant heart pounding mech battle super deluxe (on the Wii U). And that the secret is that if you beat MM9 without losing health while blindfolded and having your hands tied behind your back, the game cures cancer.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Japanese fan base have any interest in Archie's MegaMan comic, aside from a few figures in production, there's little else bearing the name Rockman/Megaman that's worth giving a crap about.
