(Many thanks to The Mega Man Network for keeping us in the loop!)
...and more footage: Rockman Online Gameplay Trailer 1, Rockman Online Gameplay Trailer 2
If you're new to this whole Rockman Online hubbub, allow me to summarize what we know so far: Rockman Online is a side-scrolling action RPG, boasting 3D graphics on a two dimensional plane, much like Mega Man X8 and Maverick Hunter X. Familiar faces and NPCs from the classic and X series will make up the game's cast. A slew of key plot details and summaries can be found here.
The game is being cooperatively developed by Capcom and NeoWiz with plans to distribute the title exclusively in Korea and Asian markets by 2011 . While there's been no word of a release for the West, a Japanese release is likely, if a trademark is to be believed.
Keep checking this post for more updates. You can check out more screenshots in the above links. I can't get either gameplay videos to embed here right now (loading VERY slowly) but I'm working on it.
Stay tuned!
Epic, splendid, i hope this game with english language!
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFFFFUUU
ReplyDeleteQuickTime can suck it. I can't see shit.
YouTube this, somebody!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! The trailer is awesome and the gameplay looks amazing. Not at all what I was expecting. I thought we'd get some slow top-down MMO something. This exceeded all my expectations. I was gonna play it no matter what, but now I'm just extremely hyped.
ReplyDeleteSting Chameleon has let himself go! He's huge now!
ReplyDeleteAlso quick time events can bite me.
This looks a lot better than what I was expecting.
ReplyDeleteThat trailer automatically has me sold on buying this if/when it gets released in America.
ReplyDelete*drools so badly*
ReplyDelete....MEGA-AWESOME!!! C'mon, Capcom! Give it to us!!! PLEASE!!! I WANNA PLAY IT!!! :D
Annnnnnnnnnnnd Megaman X meets Megaman! WOOOOOOOOOOO! OH, YEAH!!!
That was actually a whole lot cooler than what I was expecting. I'm in!
ReplyDeleteThere are a few things I noticed that kind of disappointed me.
ReplyDeleteYou don't take any damage from touching enemies, spikes aren't an instant kill (nor do they seem to even deal a lot of damage.), and when you run out of health you re spawn right where you just died...
Other than that this game looks awesome. There's no way they can't release this outside South Korea and Japan.
I'll buy it when it gets to Japan. Unless it comes here too.
ReplyDeleteAs far as MMO's go, I tend to not like it when you pick a character instead of make one, but considering this is the Megaman franchise, a huge exception is made. This game looks amazing.
ReplyDelete>__> I'm starting to wonder. Should I offer working for them as a translator for free in return for info?
ReplyDeleteOn that note, pay attention and you'll notice the Z2 intro boss and Zero-series Zero.
...Oh well, since player characters are all mass-produced copies it doesn't really matter.
Oh shit, is that Maoh the Giant from MegaMan X3??
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie to you. As a guy who haven't have a new Mega Man X game half a decade, I gotta say I'm giddy with excitement.
ReplyDeleteWell, this isn't the Maverick Hunters Online that I had envisioned, since that features customizable characters, but this still looks nice and interesting.
ReplyDeleteDO WANT.
The animation is a bit choppy and the dash comes out really fast. But other than that, the game looks very interesting. Not sure if I'll ever get the chance to play it, but I'll follow it for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd the music is pretty good, too.
X3 INTRO BOSS FTW!
ReplyDeleteEh. I still don't get it.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty though.
Multiplayer at last. Enemy cameos is nice. Finishing moves... that was unexpected. You can tell the game creators are fans. But that does necessarily not make the good.
ReplyDeleteHit detection looks particularly altered/confusing. Sting Chameleon... has grown. And he has no chameleon power. And maybe it's for the demo purposes, but this game looks to be very easy so far (unless you don't know what you're doing, like the guy in the last trailer). But this game does hold a lot of potential!
If this was not a pay-per-month service kinda MMO, I would definitely buy this. Looks AMAZING
ReplyDeleteWelp! I'm convinced. Rockman Online plays like a multiplayer Rockman X8 (without the buddy system), which is AOK in my book. I sincerely hope we can customize our characters a bit, though... I know I will immediately get tired of seeing 2,000 Zeros run around. >_>
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally mistook Ballade for Rockman Shadow, at first. And Enker looks almost completely different. o_o (First video.)
Well, the gameplay looks pretty much like typical MMO crap, which is disappointing but pretty much what I expected.
ReplyDeleteBut the trailers/world/character designs/scenario... are FANTASTIC. Just too bad it's being wasted on an MMO and not, say, an RPG or a series of straight-up sidescrolling sequels.
epic win, rockman sidescrollers is what i love, and party system looks awesome (i've been waiting 20 years of my life for something so cool). Too bad the consolefags are mad cuz its only on the pc XD
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. I'm screwed. MMO addiction, here I come!
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome, if only you could play as more than 3 characters!
ReplyDeleteJust because only 3 characters where revealed to be playable, doesn't mean they will be the only ones. Apparently, Cinnamon will be a healer, and Axl can be a rapid fire character. Other possibilities include Mega Man, Proto Man (shield), Bass (rapid fire like Axl and double jump like Zero), Massimo (axe fighter), Marino (thief), and more. Even Signas could be playable as a mediator, although I don't think he would be of much use against berserk Mavericks...
ReplyDeleteLooks like it will also feature content from the Zero series, like the enemy Quicksand Mixer from Z1 and the boss Mega Scorpia from Z2. Scorpia is even lacking its left claw!
ReplyDeleteSting Chameleon
ReplyDeletePharaoh Man
