Capcom blew the lid off of two major Mega Man Universe gameplay features tonight: character customization and stage creation. Guess they couldn't wait for TGS next week, eh? Screens and details below:
Character Customization: In Mega Man Universe, you can create your own original Mega Man by assembling parts you like. Also, your abilities will change depending on the parts you choose. There are a wide variety of custom parts that allow you to create your original Mega Man!
Stage Creation: Mega Man Universe not only allows you to customize your original Mega Man, but you can also create your own unique stages! You can play your own custom stages or play stages created by others. Aside from Mega Man themed stages, there are a variety of custom stage parts that will be revealed soon.
I think we all saw this coming a mile away, but still nice to finally get the official confirmation.
Mega Man Universe is starting to sound more and more like a spiritual successor to Mega Man Powered Up, at least in terms of stage customization. The game looks to offer a fairly similar experience with a more robust stage editor that not only sports a bigger play field but also notably ditched the limit gauge that plagued MMPU's stage editor. That's a major plus in my book.
Look forward to more MMU details dropping next week during TGS beginning September 16th.

Mega Man Universe just got a whole lot more appealing! I am officially on board!
ReplyDeleteWow, neat stuff. Let's see what we can make of this. Yeah, Capcom really couldn't wait for TGS.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Tron Bonne is the Legends rep for MvC3. I [CENSORED] CALLED IT.

Don't kill me for this!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think the idea of building our own megaman levels is a bit... unnecessary? Unless they go all wacky with gameplay like LBP, it doesn't really seem that worthwhile to me. :P
Okay, whatever. Had my say. Flame war away.
So, it does have a Powered Up-style level editor? Interesting. I just wish they'd show more than just Mega Man 2 content for a change.
ReplyDeleteThere also looks like there is some sort of weapon combination system in place.
ReplyDeleteThe image with chop man shows a curved green symbol for one weapon, then the next weapon is that symbol & a sun. However we know this "double weapon" to be quick boomerang from the trailers.
Maybe theres a base set of prior weapons/new weapons that combine into other prior Mega Man weapons?
In before obligatory baaaaaaaaaaw it's not Legends/X/Zero/Battle Network/Star Force/Soccer complaints.
ReplyDeleteRoll's bow makes her look like cutman.
ReplyDeleteI don't even recognized Roll. She looks more like a disguise Cut Man.
ReplyDeleteLots of great news this week! Particularly MMU, MMO, MVC3 and the unused 3D elements from MMSF.
Ok, now this game's looking awesome.
ReplyDeleteHmm. A sub par level designer with old 8-Bit pieces combined with silly limb swaps for characters. I would have MUCH RATHER had a Powered Up 2 with level creator. Still not loving the art style. It's almost not even Mega Man. I am still iffy on purchasing this game...seems so gimmicky and ~ladida~.
ReplyDelete"angry" roll is kinda cute
ReplyDeleteThis is the news I was waiting for. All we need now are downloadable construction packs...
ReplyDeleteI still can't get over how bland the game looks, it's like someone ported a Flash game to a console. And mixing sprites with 3D models doesn't work at all - pick one style and stick with it.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least they finally made a Mega Man level editor after all these years. I just wish they'd made some different stylistic choices...
Hell yes!
ReplyDeleteThis made me want to play this game even more! :3
I knew from the very first trailer this was going to be a "littleBigPlanet-esque" MegaMan game.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this to be released its like a classic fans dream come true.
"Mega Man Universe just got a whole lot more appealing! I am officially on board!"
ReplyDelete^^^^^^^^^
Has it said which platform this is gunna be on? And if it's download-only or not?
@Kaldeon
ReplyDeleteIt's a download title for the 360 and PS3, there isn't a Wii version due to the game being larger than Nintendo's mandated minimum file size.
@Kaldeon
ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be on PS3 and Xbox 360, but sadly not the Wii.
I like the 8-bit head made out of bricks.
ReplyDeleteHey, now things are gettin exciting for this game? Well I knew things will gonna be like MMPU, so no hard feelings huh? Now the first teaser trailer from not so long ago explains alot.
ReplyDeleteI see Metoolman.
ReplyDeleteI am pleased.
(Also, that seriously is roll? The game's art style does NOT suit her.)
am i the only one that still thinks this looks dumb...? maybe even worse than before.......?
ReplyDeleteI don't care what people say, I like the way Roll looks here.
ReplyDeleteAnd man, this game just keeps looking better and better in my book. Even if other people are gonna hate, I'm actually pretty excited for this game.
Sounds cool. But errr... I hope you can change the colors of the parts.
