Scant on gameplay but awesome nonetheless, here's the first teaser trailer for Rockman Online:
So... wow. From the looks of it, we just bared witness to some sort of robot uprising taking place within a dystopian classic series universe -- yet -- the trailer cuts to footage of Iris, Alia and Signas (X series characters), toiling away as if they're providing aid to the very situation at hand. Classic/X series crossover, anyone?
According to Stoo.com, the source of the trailer, the game will indeed feature characters from both series, specifically outlining the presence of classic Rockman, Blues (Proto Man), Forte (Bass), X and Zero. Just how these characters will relate to one another is unknown at this time so it's up for speculation.
Aside from the above tidbit about characters, no new details about the game were revealed. However, once again, various Korean sites are promising more details will trickle out in the near future.
If you're new to this whole Rockman Online hubbub, allow me to summarize what we know so far: Rockman Online is a side-scrolling action RPG, boasting 3D graphics on a two dimensional plane, much like Mega Man X8 and Maverick Hunter X. Familiar faces and NPCs will make up the game's cast in addition to online players.
The game is being cooperatively developed by Capcom and NeoWiz with plans to distribute the title exclusively in Korea and Asian markets by the end of 2010. While there's been no word of a release for the West, a Japanese release is likely, if a trademark is to be believed.
Hopefully, more updates sooner rather than later.
Wow. He can airdash =o xD
ReplyDeleteHoly shit...
ReplyDeleteHow odd... This seems more like it has to do with the Classic series than it does to do with the X series. Either way, though, things are looking pretty good, and I'm excited for it. Hopefully, they'll show off some actual gameplay soon.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!
ReplyDeleteIs it me or Wily has a big belly?
HOLY SHIT. That was insane.
ReplyDeleteI want this game, a crossover 3D HQ with classic and X???? A DREAM!!!
ReplyDeleteCapcom Unity posted this up...miscredited it.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Protodude.
Wow, that was weird. I love that Drill Man Remix playing in the background though. Sounds pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat...? What did I just watch?
ReplyDeleteIt's THE BRIDGE. The bridge to classic to X. The most important event ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's exclusive to Korea.
FFFFUUUUUUUUU.
No words can describe the awesomeness of what I just saw.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note...
It's the cataclysm! Zero is the final boss and is going to kill everyone! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! *runs away from angry "canoners"* XD
Dude what. Seriously. What.
ReplyDelete*boggling*
On a different note, any speculation as to who or what this is, capped at 02:00?
First superficial glance reminds me, of all things, of Cache from Rockman EXE Phantom of Network ...
Dude why aren't the anime's like this damn that was seriously bitchin!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, they mixed Forte with his EXE look, awesome.
ReplyDeleteIT'S LIKE MY DREAM COME TRUE!
ReplyDelete*dies of happiness*
That was pretty badical. Too bad as far as we know it's Asian exclusive, though. We better get working on convincing CoA to bring it over here.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does Cut Man actually look like Cut WOMAN? Stare at the "thumbnail" for the video long enough and you'll see what I mean...lol.
ReplyDeleteHoly O.O Everything about that teaser was fricking awsome. It's been a while since ive been this excited about something like this. Now I really do pray this makes it to us sometime within the next 2 years, zomg. Awsome BGM as well, me wants.
ReplyDeleteThat dude looks like Techno to me from that GB MMX game.
ReplyDeleteA shame that such a cool looking game is going to be wasted on being a Korean MMO. I mean maybe it's just me, but this seems like it can be done on PS360. Both systems have a fleshed out online portion and could probably handle an MMO. (I think they handled one of the PSU games, which was a MMORPG IIRC.)
ReplyDelete@Taichira: I'm personally reminded of that villan from X8 (Lumie?), but I know that can't be it.
A smaller version of Sigma?
ReplyDeleteThey did say that this will link the Classic and X series together.....
ReplyDelete@Rage Man
ReplyDeleteIt obviously isn't going to be any sort of official bridge between the series. The entire development as well as the main marketing is being done outside the country (Japan). It is more like EXE is likely more like EXE is to the classic series. Using similar character designs and names, but being totally seperate in terms of story.
Why, oh why isn't this a full-fledged game being released worldwide?
ReplyDeleteDear Capcom:
ReplyDeleteEnglish. Release. NAO.
Please?
...I have seen the awesome, and IT SHALL BE MINE, KOREA OR NO KOREA!!!
Soo... Super Bass, Signas, Aile, Meggy, Proto, Wily, Roll, Light, the original robot masters, and according to earlier posters... X, Zero, and Sigma.
HOLY CRAP THIS WILL BE AWESOME.
This is really damned cool.
ReplyDeleteSo will someone remind me why it’s being used as an MMO and not a normal game?
Though who knows, maybe the MMO is supposed to show events in the heat of this cataclysm from the point of player-made characters, and a later, more traditional game shows the major events from the perspective of established characters.
Manson, remind me to translate **** for you if you ever get back on AIM and the game's released.
ReplyDeleteOn that note, I think I see hints of a parallel plotline or time warp.
Awesome!! What a nice way to wake up. XD
ReplyDeleteSo many familiar faces. In a way I hope it might explain how the series are connected but I really hope that it nly gives very vague details so that more Classic series games can be released. (cause if they explain the connection, they just limited themselves). Thus has got to be alternate universe or like the characters got pulled from their universe and placed in the alternative and have to save I to return home or something (they knew in Iris and Signas along with Cache [?] )
we need this game outside Asia. (let's all bug Capcom USA, Europe, etc)
This is pretty cool. Granted, the crossover stuff probably won't be canon, but that's okay. If they bring it to the states, it'll be one of the few MMOs I bother to play.
ReplyDeleteI'll take a full-length feature movie of this. Looks wicked!
ReplyDeleteOMG this is EPIC!! Iris, Alia, and Forte in the same game?? Im losing it! Megaman vs protoman?! or maybe the return of Breakman??
ReplyDeleteAnd IRIS!!! Eeeee!! XD *has a seizure*
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha... Korean production at its finest.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI was gonna say it made me want a Classic anime, but I'm not sure about it now...
Since when can they fly?
WHAT THE HELL?
ReplyDeleteThe coolest, most epic, fan-servicey Mega Man game to come along in ages is Mega Man Online, a Korean-only MMO?! There are two things wrong with this scenario:
1. It's Korean-only
2. It's an MMO
Seriously, when Mega Man Online was first revealed, I hardly gave it a second thought even though I'm a hardcore Mega Man fan because I can't stand MMOs, and they tend to generally be shit in the storytelling department. Indeed, this trailer may be as epic as Mega Man Online's story gets.
But god damn if that isn't one of the coolest Mega Man-related... anythings out there. And the idea of a Classic and X series crossover excites me even more, though it definitely looks to be more of a crossover than a "bridge" between the two series -- if this is a late-Classic/early-X era story, the presence of Iris, Alia, and Signas makes no sense, and the simultaneous presence of Iris and Alia/Signas makes even less sense. And why are Mega Man and Proto Man fighting? I'm guessing this story will be non-canon, but I guess we'll see. Can't wait to see how X and Zero interact with Mega Man and Dr. Light.
Shit. Why can't Capcom do Mega Man right like this?! I love Mega Man 9 and 10, but this is exactly the epic take I always thought the series deserved!
inafune isn't working on this ?
ReplyDeleteNo Thanks !
We all want a Classic Series Anime, Inafume! Listen to us!!
ReplyDeleteBtw, is it just me or this game is getting more attention than Megaman Universe? :S
At least the characters don't look generic and plasticy. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI really hope this isn't "the bridge". The time travel concept seems a bit...odd. There are a lot of things that are odd yet interesting. Iris navigating with Alia? Mega Man fighting Proto Man for an unknown reason? All these robots rioting almost as if Mavericks or Roboenza victims? It all seems so strange but it must fit in somehow. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
ReplyDeleteThat... was.... AMAZING
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT! That was just AMAZING!! Mega Man and protoman fighting and Bass looks badasser than ever!! they mixed his classic look with his exe look.
ReplyDeleteI dunno, the animation looks great... But a crossover? I deeply dislike crossovers. There's probably going to be some sort of stupid excuse to put classic MM and X together.
ReplyDeleteThis looks pretty awesome. Moreso than I thought, since I originally thought it was only going to relate to the X series, but this is a crossover?!
ReplyDelete*sighs* I'm gonna cry if this never comes to the West. I'll start right now and hope it's loud enough for Capcom to hear.
Awesome video but, no offense, does not necessarily mean the game will match in awesomeness. I have high hopes for it though and would love to see it come over here, so we can at least have the choice to play it.
ReplyDeleteKorea understands so little about the Mega Man timeline thanks to terrible translations and a lot of games only coming there in pirated form. I'm sure they just decided to write their own story and remake the characters, and that it has nothing to do with any other game series. Just doing its own thing.
ReplyDeleteAnon above me:
ReplyDeleteCapcom Japan is developing this with Neowiz. I'm sure they are watching very closely over the story.
- It brings voidness, much like the MegaMan Universe trailer, isn't it? ...
ReplyDelete< Learned Hangul (Korean writing system) today in just a few hours to read the title of the video.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I wish was changed was swapping Proto with Bass. It would make a lot more sense that way. Proto Man usually wanders about...but then again, so does Bass in current times.
ReplyDelete@Newer Anon
ReplyDeleteCapcom of Japan has not been stated anywhere to be involved in the development itself. Also, I highly doubt they are considering that it is only stated to be scheduled for Korean release. Generally no Japan release = little Japan involvment.
The characters seem to be done in the style of Hitoshi Ariga, the creator of the MegaMix mangas. You can see the similarities right on the cover.
ReplyDeleteSignas and Alia were only with the Hunters after the Repliforce war, after Iris was already dead. Unless they've revived her somehow. But they just threw a bunch of characters together that they liked and threw plot to the wind. Which might be for the best anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhoooooaaa... Just woah.. I mush have this game...
ReplyDeleteI demand an anime!!!!! *_*
ReplyDeleteAnd Metal Man. :3
Looking great. They better making this avaible for everyone ò.ó
Now, I could be wrong, but...
ReplyDeleteAt 0:25 - 0:27, it looks like Megaman is the one breaking that car's window!! =O
There's another Megaman behind him, though, carrying something and then throwing it on the ground. Clones, maybe?
There are also a couple of Megaman-like bots in the mob at 0:23 - 0:25 if you look closely.
And at 0:29 - 0:30, that's Megaman (or a clone?) being carried off by that other robot/reploid.
Maybe that is the reason Protoman is shown fighting Megaman...? Maybe it is a misunderstanding and Protoman thinks Megaman is evil or thinks he is an evil clone. Or maybe Protoman is evil/an evil clone. =O
I'm not trying to say this is fact or anything. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out I'm wrong. I just noticed a few things in the trailer and started theorizing about them, that's all... ^^;
@taichara
ReplyDeleteThat picture reminds me of Dark Rockman.EXE, To be honest. And he also looks like Forte a little...
Maybe a new character?\
Also, Am I seriously the only one who thought cutman was a women at first site?
@Cassandra
ReplyDeleteIt's actually just a bunch of generic robots. Probably just some mass produced ones with basic designs.
@Anonymous: Yeah, I'm sure they are just generic... =/
ReplyDeleteThey still look a lot like Megaman to me, though!
I came E-Tanks when I saw this. (figuratively speaking of course!)
ReplyDeleteI really just want to try this game out. Shame it's only releasing in Asia and Korea.
Here is a google translate of the description of the video from PMANG
ReplyDeleteMega Man's legend is reproduced online!
20XX year when human beings were created to help the revolt of the robot has reached the extreme
Dr. Wiley used these to fill the ambitions of world domination.
This challenge to world peace and the necessity of keeping the good robots ...
We called them, Mega Man!
That translation is horrible. I'll do it myself.
ReplyDelete"The year is 20XX, the disobedience of the robots made to help mankind reach their peak, and Dr. Wily tries to use these robots to fulfill his ambitions of world domination. In a stand against him robots trying to maintain world peace appear...We call them Rockmen!"
That's a direct translation...
"The year is 20XX. Robots revolt against mankind, and the nefarious Dr. Wily plans to use them to conquer the world. Robots of justice rise to save the world from the clutches of Dr.Wily. We call them...ROCKMEN!"
That's more or less what it actually equates to.
Okay, Remind me to go slap around Capcom and Neowiz and curse at them in Korean..."Rockmen" is referred to in plural in the original text, which either implies that Pmang's advertisement crew sucks bad, or that Rockman X appears in the fight against Wily.
