"Next issue is going to be a big one. In addition to an exclusive cover story to a huge new title, we'll bring you first new looks of half a dozen incredible games including De Blob 2 and an astonishing title that stars one of gaming's most recognizable heroes."Though it might be a bit of a stretch, if you couple the bolded statement above with that background of the universe, it's easy to relate this mysterious tease with the recently uncovered Mega Man Universe trademark. It wouldn't be the first time NP had an exclusive, surprise Mega Man reveal, after all.

It's too bad it still tells us nothing about what it will be.

ReplyDeleteTy, why would they be teasing Galaxy 2 when it's coming out this month? This is a new game.
ReplyDeleteLet's not get our hopes up. It'll probably end up not being Megaman-related at all.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's got absolutely nothing to do with Megaman, no offense.
ReplyDelete^
ReplyDeleteOr we could look at it from the other extreme and say that the magazine will now be called Capcom Power, with only Mega Man related info. :D
a picture of the universe. a game starring one of gaming's most recognizable characters.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you find this hard to believe?
I'm hoping for Star Fox.
ReplyDelete@Anon3
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe 'cause Megaman's just one of many very recognizable video game characters.
Rad!!, hahahaha.....geez..
ReplyDeleteHm... Many people at GoNintendo are saying that this is either going to be:
ReplyDelete- Star Fox
- F-Zero
- Kirby
Now that I think about it though, when was the last time that Nintendo Power got an exclusive reveal for 1st party games? And by that, I mean revealing something before Nintendo does it themselves? Star Fox and F-Zero is less likely due to this.
For Kirby... Well, he's pretty much a walking black hole. It helps that the pink nebula vaugely looks like him, although this is likely picking apart insignificant details at this point. (I really wouldn't be surprised if the image used is actually that of a real nebula/star cluster.)
This being Mega Man Universe is somewhat likely, if only because Nintendo Power surprised the hell out of everyone with Mega Man 10.
Also, E3 is going to happen next month, and chances are high that Nintendo will want to surprise everyone during their E3 conference then, rather than having Nintendo Power reveal any new 1st party projects weeks beforehand.
So, this is major enough for Nintendo Power to be calling it as such (which really doesn't say much), but not major enough to bother keeping it as a secret until E3. Something Mega Man or Kirby related appears to fall into this line.
(And before anyone decides to baw at me for implying that a new Mega Man is not that important, you guys have to be pretty deluded if you think any kind of Mega Man title is taken as seriously as a new 1st party Nintendo game.)
Oh dang, I'm either hoping for Mega Man Universe or Star Fox Wii.
ReplyDeleteBut they'll probably pull the rug from us all and announce a new Metroid game. =P
I hate to bust y'alls Bubble Lead, but this sounds more like Kirby Wii to me.
ReplyDeleteBut we should be hearing about MMUniverse anytime now, now that the trademark's all over the 'net.
I'm on the boat with the people who say that this isn't MegaMan-related. I'm thinking it's a Nintendo franchise sequel. Though, there is a slim chance it is MegaMan-related, considering they did this exact "show a picure of something related to a game series" with other third party's IP, remember that Castlevania DS reveal? So, maybe it's MegaMan, but I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteI'm also going to pose an obvious question that everyone has likely alread asked themselves, but who's to say that MegaMan Universe (1) isn't OSS and that it is the first in a new MegaMan series about timeline-universe crossovers? Doesn't that seem like a good explination? Maybe OSS is getting localized, contradictory to what was said back awhile ago.
>.< As much of a huge fan of Mega Man I am... I hope it's Kirby Wii!!
ReplyDelete:3 Even though I grew up with Mega Man, and only recently got into Kirby.. I'd prefer that over a EXE/StarForce sequel. But I doubt Mega Man Universe would be a StarForce sequel.. Seeing how StarForce is new, and it kinda bombed.
^_^ Here's to hopping for a good Mega Man game, or Kirby of the Stars.
(Sorry for double posting!)
ReplyDeleteI just thought!!... They've been wanting to do something 'new' with our favorite Elf...
Maybe it's 'The Legend of Zelda: A Link into Space'!
@Curious: If this was OSS, one would think that "Battle Network" would be stuck somewhere in the trademark listing.
ReplyDeleteMocho: As much as I rip on Star Force on a regular basis, I highly doubt that selling 200-300k copies would be considered 'bombing'. The other Rockman series minus Classic and EXE would kill for sales even remotely close to that.
About Zelda, wasn't Spirit Tracks just released late last year? Although now that I think about it, Miyamoto didn't officially announce 'Zelda Wii' yet.
My feeling is that it's a new Star Fox. I'd love it to be Mega Man Universe, though.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it's about Metroid...what else can it be right?
ReplyDeleteWhy would it be a 1st party title, everyone? Why not save big game reveals for E3, June 15th? This could very well be MMU.
ReplyDeletein the castlevania preview (big red moon picture) they said the following issue that if you zoomed in on the center of the picture it was actually written castlevania. anyone willing to examine this shot for a name?
ReplyDeleteNintendo Power's reveals are never reveals. Do you know how many times that page in the back has touted a new secret? It's always something internet goers have seen screenshots from for months.
ReplyDeleteNo point if this is not MMU anyway, its gonna get released sooner or later
ReplyDeleteCaptain Commando 2? What? I can dream can't I? XD
ReplyDeletemetroid?

Actually... Everyone, go to the GoNintendo link. Notice the front cover story featuring Metroid.
ReplyDeleteAs several others have pointed out at GoNintendo, that starry background likely doesn't have anything to do with this new game at all, and matches with the Metroid cover on the front side.
Please Capcom, PLEASE dont disappoint!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Kirby is "one of gaming's most recognizable characters". Neither Fox or Samus are this either, I would think. Still a little iffy on the idea that this is Mega Man Universe, though, especially since last we heard the new RockMan game was still only a concept being kicked around. Also, the wording could have been a little better if it were Mega Man Universe, at least IMO, since I'm of the opinion that the idea that Seth Killian was talking about, especially if that really is Mega Man Universe, is a crossover between the RockMan series. Who knows, it's only another month's wait. Not really something worth speculating on, IMO.
ReplyDeleteJDAManson -
ReplyDeleteUh, Kirby and especially Samus are certainly two of gaming's most recognizable characters. I could maybe agree with you about Fox McCloud, though.
July is not "next month". I know the issues come out before titular months, but still, I don't think even the June issue will be out for a couple more weeks.
ReplyDelete@Mike: Uh... The current issue IS the June issue. Some people got them yesterday.
ReplyDelete@MaverickHunterAsh
ReplyDeleteWhat I mean is, I don't think if you showed someone a picture of Kirby or Samus on the street, they would recognize who they are.
@ JDAManson
ReplyDeleteTrue, but if you showed a subscriber to Nintendo Power a picture of Kirby, or Samus, they would most definitely know. :P
I'm trying not to speculate anymore, since it's rather impossible to see what it is until it actually comes out. And when it does in July, odds are it won't be anything. >_> Knowing magazines..
It's Kirby of the stars.
