In the year 200X, one year after the events of the Gamma Project and Dr. Wily's overtaking of it (and Wily's supposed "demise"), Dr. Light receives a letter from a mysterious Russian scientist named Dr. Cossack claiming that he is the superior robot engineer in all the world. Cossack states further that he will unleash his army of robots upon the world as a "test" for Light to see which of them was the best. Light will not stand for this, so Mega Man is called forth from his search for Wily to go after Cossack's Robot Masters. Now all we need is MM5 and MM6, and we'll have ourselves the complete NES classic series on Wii. Hope they aren't too far off from release!

Mega Man 4 Arrives On NA Virtual Console
Hot on the heels of the European release last week, Mega Man 4 was added to the North American Virtual Console library earlier today. The game can be purchased straight off the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Nintendo Points.
Hmm, rather than releasing Mega Man 4 on the Virtual Console a week before Mega Man 10, itself, it looks like they decided to do that a week before the rest of its downloadable content, instead. That's something I wasn't expecting at all.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a surprising amount of story detail in the description. Definitely a lot more specific than the game itself gets. :P
ReplyDeletePersonally, I find Mega Man 4 to be one of my least favorite Classic games. For me the music and boss designs hit a low point, and I just don’t find the game as consistently fun as many of the others, especially its direct successor, Mega Man 5. It gets credit for actually retaining a bit of the challenge inherent in Mega Man 1-3, though, which Mega Man 5 and 6 would almost completely lose.
So yeah, not one of my favorites. I still like going back to it more than Mega Man 8 and Mega Man 1, though. ;)
It's funny how that story description was lifted directly from Wikipedia (or was that intentional?).

Anyway, I always thought Mega Man 4 took place in 20XX, not 200X. Could be wrong though, but I thought the part of 200X in the story was referring to past events. But if it's 200X, seems we are still dealing with the past. :P
Now if we can just figure out some way to get 8 on the VC or WiiWare...
ReplyDeleteMaybe they go ahead and remake Megaman 7 and Megaman 8 in 8 bits for a true virtual console collections of Wii due to Megaman 9 and Megaman 10 ?? I hope so.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteMega Man 7 will most likely just be released how it is, in its original 16-bit glory. Mega Man 8, on the other hand, I wouldn't say so. That has a better change of appearing on Playstation Network than anything else. Unfortunately, it would just be the Playstion version, though, for obvious reasons. I'd love to play the Saturn version someday.
Of course, if you want to see MM7 and MM8 in 8-bit, just look up "Rockman 7 FC" and "Rockman 8 FC." MM7 is finished and MM8 is getting close to being finished.
ReplyDelete@Brahman,
ReplyDeleteI know but it would be nice for legally ones. You never know if they decide to do it by surprise. ;) :)
