Capcom Unity
reports that January's Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas will have
Mega Man 10 in some shape or form. The much anticipated sequel is scheduled to appear alongside a handful of other upcoming Capcom titles:
- Super Street Fighter IV
- Lost Planet 2
- Dark Void on PC
- Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
- Mega Man 10
- Final Fight/Magic Sword
- Monster Hunter Tri
- Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
- MotoGP
- Ace Attorney Investigations
Previous CES showcases play host to demos and the like, so I wouldn't be surprised if a demo of Mega Man 10 will be on-hand. If not, the least we can hope for is new info on the game to surface, or related media.
CES kicks off January 7th.

ReplyDeleteDo ya like engrish, Proto? XD
ReplyDeleteLol, no worries, I've fixed those typos.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Tatsunoko? it should have been there before the release.
ReplyDeleteMmm.. Ace Attorney.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't TvC be bolded as well? haha
ReplyDeleteHopefully some to gameplay videos, if possible.
As much as I love the classic series... is anyone else underwhelmed by this big deja vu? MM9 was fantastic. Now either come up with something new or wait a bit. This all seems very cow-milking to me.

ReplyDeleteI get what you're saying, but it really seems like Capcom just can't win with us. They wait too long to make Mega Man 10, we're gonna bitch and say "why the drought, Capcom?! Throw us fans a bone! Whine whine whine!" But they do it too quickly and we cry, "well now you're just milking Mega Man! For shame!"
Look, quick follow-ups are not new to Capcom or Mega Man. Given that, I think we should be happy that a new game is coming sooner rather than later, because even if Capcom made us wait another year or two for Mega Man 10, it was almost certainly always going to be another neo-8-bit title. That's just the nature of Capcom and their business practices. As long as the games remain good, we (the fans) win out in the end.
Capcom proved with Mega Man 9 that they were willing and able to not just make "another" Mega Man game, but a GOOD Mega Man game again... as in, put real effort into the game design, balancing, stage design, etc. So far, I have confidence that they are putting that kind of effort into Mega Man 10 as well. If that turns out to be true, I don't think that's milking the series, because they're not just soullessly churning them out, they're putting honest work into each game.
Of course, if Mega Man 10 turns out to be another Mega Man 8 in terms of design and overall quality, then yeah, I'll agree with you; they'll have gone right back to milking the series. But I have faith that Mega Man 10 is going to be another *good* -- maybe even great -- Mega Man game, not just another one.
That said, I hope Capcom doesn't consciously try to ape Mega Man 2 again. It's great, but not as perfect as everyone says it is. Personally, I felt Mega Man 9 was too short and simple BECAUSE it aped Mega Man 2 so closely. I hope Mega Man 10 takes more cues from the later NES titles, like Mega Man 5 (my favorite in the Classic series) and 6... longer, more in-depth, meatier. You know, two castles, hidden Beat/whatever plates, alternate routes.
That's just my personal preference... anyone else agree? Protodude, what about you? :)
I completely agree. Capcom's focus with MM9 was dead set on matching or out trumping the quality that is MM2. Whether they succeeded or failed is up to the player...
ReplyDeleteHaving gotten their feet wet with MM9, I hope that Capcom is ready to branch out a bit with MM10, trying a few new things to set itself apart from its predecessors.
We'll see what happens!
How very refreshing to read a long post that was not wasting time on an argument. I agree.
