Speaking with a Jazwares rep. early today, I learned the company has a few interesting Mega Man products coming down the pike. In addition to the urban vinyl figures (due in early 2010), the company plans on re-releasing their popular 6'' Retro Roto series in a four-pack box set. BigBadToyStore has already begun accepting pre-orders:
According to Jazwares, the set is exclusive to online retailers, and won't be sold in-stores.
Estimated arrival is in December, with a follow up box set consisting of "wave 2 figures" in the Spring of 2010. Jazwares did not specify on what will make up the "wave 2" line, however I can't help but think that this would be a grand opportunity to finally release the much delayed Heat Man, Wood Man and Ice Man roto figures.
More details soon.
What does "Roto" mean?
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me, I still have a shadow man figure with two right arms. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see that :D
ReplyDeleteI hope that $40 price tag goes down at some point. I want those. :o
ReplyDeleteWhoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa...
ReplyDeleteClarify something here: When you say "follow up box set consisting of wave 2 figures," do you mean that the IceMan, SnakeMan, HeatMan, WoodMan or Wily figures are going to finally see the light of day?!?!
Because the only Retro Roto figures not included in this box set are Gutsy and the Full-Charge Build-a-Bot Megaman. So I don't see how that could make a second wave set. And the way you worded things, I assume you don't mean a second wave of the urban vinyl figures already.
^
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, they really didn't specify what's in the second set, only that it will consist of "wave 2 figures."
I might just have to make another call...
This isn't surprising since, as you might (or might not?) know, CVS has for the past few weeks been selling "new" (unopened) Retro-Roto Mega Man figures. However, it seems to be somewhat random as each store has something different; still, not a bad opportunity to get any ones you may not have!
ReplyDelete@Folkmiza: "Roto" in this case refers to the "roto-cast vinyl" that the figures are made of.
I have the Megaman one still in its packaging. Is this thing rare?
ReplyDeleteWell, Brahman's post pretty much says "no". Nevermind, then. :P
ReplyDelete@NBrad: I wouldn't call them rare, but if you have kept them in great, unopened condition (and don't care about playing with them or anything), then you should leave them in "box."
ReplyDeleteThere are a few sites that have these figures in stock, and they can run anywhere from about $10.00 to almost $30.00 (again, not a lot, but it could increase, especially since this re-release coming up is a box of 4, not just 1).
Amazing. I simply must have a sixth sense for these things. Recently, just for the past two days actually, I have been greatly wondering about when the Retro Roto figures would see a return. I love their style and quality. Very sturdy figures. Everyone has been wondering when wave two will be released, so I guess this is some great intel. Especially putting my mind at some ease! lol...I just hope its some new robot masters and characters rather than the first wave re-released. It'll be like collecting cards with all the bots, lol.
ReplyDelete@MegaMac: Wave 2 does indeed have some different figures in it - if you look up "Retro Roto Wave 2" (or something like that on Google), you will see the different robots that will be in it!
ReplyDeleteOriginally the unreleased Roto figures were referred to as Wave 2, so maybe it does mean that. I wonder if these figures will include the full-charge parts as well.
ReplyDeleteMan, I wish they'd make a Metalman figure.....
Are they articulated?
ReplyDelete@MegaMac: Heck, I wish they'd make figures for ALL the Robot Masters at some point, though I know that will never happen!
ReplyDelete@Folkmiza: Yes, they are articulated, mainly the head, legs, and arms; the degree of articulation mainly depends on the figure, though.
$40 is a bit steep, especially since they were blown out at Big Lots for $5 each back in the day. I managed to get a nice set on ebay.
ReplyDeleteStill, I'd buy the wave 2 figures if they were ones that weren't released previously.
