Unconfirmed at the moment, but according to a few posters on 2channel, Japanese magazine Dorimaga reviewed Operate Shooting in their latest issue and gave it an overall score of 6.0 out of 10.
The review praises the addition of the Rockman Colosseum, citing it as a fun mini-game anyone can enjoy, but other than that, there wasn't enough content to truly separate the title from its original 2001 counterpart.
No scan of the review, so take this one with a grain of salt.
Thanks, RockMega.
That sounds dissapointing... then again i don't really care about reviews :)
ReplyDeleteMOTHERFUCKER!
ReplyDeleteI knew I should have not get so excited for this.
Well, still, the only way to truly find out what it's like... is to play it.
ROM LEAK WHERE?
No surprises there...
ReplyDeleteI knew it. That's why it is a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteWell it sounds disappointing, hopefully it is not so but... you know Capcom <.<
ReplyDeleteIs it customary to rate games high when they're almost exactly the same as before, when no real benefit came from the port?
ReplyDeleteIf not, then this makes perfect sense. Doesn't mean it's a bad game. Just an old game.
Well I never played MMBN 1 and 2 so I guess Im gonna like this game XD
ReplyDeleteOh, come on! Everyone knows that reviewers love bashing Mega Man/Rockman for not changing significantly from game to game when games like Call of Duty change just about as much and get 9's across the board. I'm not saying CoD is a bad game, I'm just saying that reviewers are highly biased and inconsistent 90% of the time.
ReplyDelete@Autobobby1: Teach me your ways, oh wise one.
ReplyDeleteTBQH, not really suprised. Looked and played too much like MMBN1. BTW, does anyone know if the final boss has 1000 HP? :P
ReplyDelete@Anonymous #3: Well, there's RE4 for the Wii. And I guess Super Mario World for the GBA.
@Autobobby1: True dat. Truuuue dat.
That sounds much better than what I was expecting.
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise. Nice to hear Rocolo is a success, though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I would say a 6.0 would be about right considering it's mostly a port.
ReplyDelete@Autobobby:
ReplyDeleteExactly.
To me, 6 and 7 out of 10 is an average review, nothing really good nothing really bad. Try it out before taking someone's word seriously.
ReplyDeleteOn the current public school grading scale, a 65 is the lowest possible grade you get before everything turns into an F. Even on the old grading scale, 60 is the lowest.
ReplyDeleteSo either way... OSS pretty much got a D-.
Capcom, I'd like an A+ effort, or at least a B-. kthanxbye
Doesn't surprise me. Reminds me of IGN's beef with MMBN5DS--too samey, gets a "blargh".
ReplyDeleteWould it have killed them to give it the same score they did the original BN1 (if they reviewed it at all)?
It's too early to judge, but I'd like to say this:
ReplyDeleteIf fans continue to support Capcom's lack of effort, we'll keep getting that. I know realistically that buying less MM games =/= better future MM games, but Capcom needs to really get their act together. If they can produce AAA titles like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, DMC, Monster Hunter, etc., there's no reason they can't do the same for MM. And it's not like there isn't a million new ideas they can use to revamp the series. When was the last time you saw co-op in MM? Most likely Power Battle & Fighters.
@Anon6: I don't know about RE4, but SMW on the GBA DID benefit from the port. All of the sudden it's portable! With OSS... woohoo, maps. :P Without names.
ReplyDelete^
ReplyDeleteThe only benefit RE4 Wii got was controls which were supposedly better.
Seems expected. I wouldn't be too surprised at the US reviews. They'll probably be within the 2.0-4.5 range. Because seriously, you don't port a 9 year old game and not even add Wi-Fi. It's a waste of time overall.
ReplyDeleteIf it got that low of a score for being EXE1 again, I don't think they got the memo on just what OSS was supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteThat said, would more content have been nice? Sure, and hey, who knows, if you're playing as Geo, it may not deviate from the story at all, which would be a bit of a dock in points.
Still, though, I can't help but think that the game was given a low score not on its technical merits, but because of what it is.
And, if that's the case, that's a bad review score. Save the "DO NOT BUY" etc. for the commentary.
This review seems pretty generous to me. Probably a little too generous.
ReplyDeletei dont care about the reviews either i am going to buy either they say it a 1 or 2. ive been fan of megaman for like so much. if i rated it it wouldve been 23 out of ten.:-)

ReplyDeleteDarn you Capcom for not putting in online. How the heck can they not put in online? It was the least they could have done.
