Seth Killian puts a few MM9 doubts to rest in his latest blog post, even mentioning we're halfway toward discovering the ever-elusive secret. He writes:
"Shortly after the release of Mega Man 9, as fans were discovering loads of great secrets, I made an innocent little post, mentioning an as-yet-undiscovered nugget in the game.
The Mega Man-loving internets were not pleased that a secret might have escaped their all-seeing eyes, and rolled up their collective sleeves to unearth the nugget. I've been completely blown away by their response, which has generated a virtual encyclopedia of amazing little Mega Man tricks and trivia (the video above is just one small part of the total).
Though they haven't discovered the it yet, I did want to say that everyone at Capcom is impressed by the research, and offer this: Based on what I've seen so far, I'd say you're about halfway towards discovering the secret.
Most Mega Man fans want to strangle me for not spilling the beans, but I <3 mysteries and they're getting pretty rare in the internet age. I didn't intend to torture anyone when I mentioned it so long ago, and I'd advise you to just let it go if it's driving you nuts, but to those still searching, I promise that:
-the secret is not a snipe hunt, macguffin, or otherwise faked.
-I will tell you when it is discovered.
-AFAIK (and I keep tabs), it has not yet been discovered."
And with that, our search continues.

what a dick!
ReplyDeleteWhat a mystery, don't you agree Watson?
ReplyDeleteIf I say I known a secret about Mega Man 4 that no one knowns yet, Sauron will starts searching for Ring Man?
oh, and i just beat bogus man and got the spam shot. if this "secret" is found, then i'll admit i was wrong. but this is nuts. it should have been found by now unless it either A: does not exist, B: it's something that's absolutely obvious, C: he's got one heck of an eye, or D: he knew something about the development proccess/has a version the public doesn't and doesn't know it's not there, or is waiting for the public to get it/hack the game in any way.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with the choice that it is something obvious. Either that or there is some kind of "Konami Code" that you have to do to be able to get it. Think the Hadoken from Megaman X1.
ReplyDeletewow that's so stupid...
ReplyDeletewhy does he have to keep a secret like this...
anyway
maybe the secret have something to do with the roll costume because it's so useless...
Buy the RM8 dress, do «something» and this will unlock a battle against Forte :)
Here's a theory, fellas. Listen to Plug Man's stage music. Now listen to ZX Advent's first level background music while playing as Ashe. Am I the only one who thinks that they are ridiculously similar?
ReplyDeleteHow is he a dick? He just doesn't want to spoil a secret. He checks all the new secrets found to see if anyone got it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's something that only appears in different difficults or with Proto Man? Enemy and item locations? Hornet Chaser gets a hidden item not seen in other modes? Special Stage and Endlees Mode?
ReplyDeleteSo many possibilities... He should at least give a hint!
OMGOMGOMGOMG you guys!! I think I figured it out! No joke... on XBox 360, try playing MM9 with a Guitar controller (I used my Rock Band 1 controller). You will poop bricks.
ReplyDeleteOnce i played Marvel Vs Capcom with a DDR pad and Megaman started moonwalking no lie.
ReplyDeleteI think we're looking too hard.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe ... we're just not looking hard enough ...
I doubt that's it, Anon #5, though if it is, I will just strangle Seth. Period.
ReplyDeleteOMGOMGOMGOMG when I played MM9 om my Wii with a fighting stick, I was warped to Dust hill zone where Luigi gave me the Ice key!
ReplyDeleteOr maybe I was just drunk...
