Japanese Rockman blog "S.S.R" reports that the recently released Shooting Star Rockman 3 guide book, Battle Black Box, talks of the likelihood of a fourth title in the Shooting Star series.
Details are sketchy at the moment, but according to the post, an SSR3 staff interview mentions that a Shooting Star Rockman 4 is a possibility, that is to say, if the fans want it to happen. Well, do you?
Thanks for the tip, Alzo
No, I don't.
ReplyDelete*snorts*
ReplyDeleteAnd Capcom has said the same to the X fans. Where is the game we've said we wanted?
I wouldn't believe it, myself.
Nope. Where's my dern Maverick Hunter X and Powered Up sequels?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I enjoy Star Force series, I would love to make another one if they consider more free space to move like in EXE and less over-powered cards.
ReplyDeleteThe storyline is pretty deep in SSR3 so I hope they make a deeper and abit more twist this time.
Who knows, they might be a SSR4 pop up. and I want a new ZX series <_<
Urgh
ReplyDeleteFans want Legends and X, not another SSR! From the most recent Famitsu poll:

Well, if Star Force 3 had a good conclusion like everyone else has said, then no. I'm getting tired of the "hobby" style Mega Man, and I think he needs to take a rest for a while. I really want that ZX, X, Maverick Hunter X, Powered Up, or Legends sequel, please! More platforming all the way! =D
ReplyDeleteFirst to want it! Or Battle Network 7 with online play for that matter.. I miss my PET. >_>
ReplyDeleteNope, still haven't beaten the second one and prolly never will...
ReplyDeleteNo, thanks. Please move on to Maverick Hunter X and Powered Up sequels or MM Legends 3 or RMX9 but no more for SSR4, please. That's enough!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see an EXE game with WiFi.
ReplyDeletePersonally, X went down the drain in my books a long time ago when they went to 3D. -cough-X7-cough-
Here comes the flood of "RnR sux" comments. -_-;;
ReplyDeleteThe answer is yes for the most part, I think... there is just an overabundance of trolls that post (sometimes more than once as a different person) on your blog, PD.
As much as I like SSR, I probably would like it better to have it end with SSR3. Give us Mega Man Legends 3, or Mega Man X 9!
ReplyDeleteEither way I would be happy.
Please no more hobby megaman games. 8 bosses, side scrolling, predictable but satisfying story, please.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a RnR 4 but only after we get X9 and ZX3.
ReplyDeleteYES!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes I do! Bring on SSR4! WOO-HOO!
No way! Megaman ZX 3 or death.
ReplyDeletego for death then.
ReplyDeleteI love the Star Force series, like BN beofre it. Its better to have an RPG rather than side scrolling, which can be boring at times. Capcom are just trying to reach all audiences, good idea :)
Later, maybe. Give me sequels to the other ones, first. :|
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like SSR/RnR/SF, I would prefer if it ended with the good ending it had in 3, instead of creating another EXE4 (though 4 IS one of my favorites, but still >_>;)
ReplyDeleteStill have yet to play MMSF3, but sure, why not? I much MORE want another installment in the ZX series, another installment in the Legends series, and another installment in the X series, but another installment in the MMSF series I think would still be welcome.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mark on this one. I for one, am not backing down. The hobby style games are the ones that drew me into MegaMan. This is OK in my book.
ReplyDeleteI loved star force series, but they should start making OTHER series. Well, SSR3 had good ending. I'll be disappointed if they make SSR4.
ReplyDeleteI do like RnR, but I also think they should work on the length of thier games. Perhaps my standards are a bit high, since I like to play Tales games and Eternal Sonata, (long JRPGs,) but no matter what they do, it still always seems short.
ReplyDeleteI'd stil prefer that they use thier talents elsewhere in the Megaman series, but I'd still be fine with another RnR. As long as they don't keep it "Japan Only," it's fine.
"there is just an overabundance of trolls that post (sometimes more than once as a different person) on your blog, PD."
ReplyDeleteReally? I see a consistent amount of people on nearly every gaming forum that dislikes SF. It's not just people on this blog at all.
GameFAQs is just about the only general gaming site I've seen so far where SF fans are mostly tolerated (mostly as in SF fans don't go after the EXE fans on the EXE boards themselves, or even worse in terms of reaction I've seen thus far, the Original/X series fans on the MM9 board).
Either way, I consider Legends and X to be of a higher priority at the moment (and that's coming from a diehard EXE fan who has never played either sies).
ReplyDeleteBoth really need to be finished up, and hell, their fans deserve it at this point.
Let RnR die please, the sequels we want are from X and Dash right now. RnR had it's chance and it clearly didn't live to it's potential as we all saw in the second game of it's "improvements". My opinion is that RnR had great potential, the first game was great except for minor issues, most of them being the fact that the game was extremely easy. I had great hopes for the second game but I was truly disappointed, they had their chance with the third game but it wasn't enough, it was just....boring may I put it? Ending was good but that is really just all I liked about it. They ended it great for just saying RnR is finally over. Anyhow, yeah bring us Dash or X sequels.
ReplyDeleteI would only like to see "hobby" style Rockman return if an EXE title was made with full-fledged online battles and customizable Navis.
ReplyDeleteAn entirely full-3D explorable EXE game for the wii with online battles is my number uber one wish (though 0% possible) then EXE 7, then Legends 3, then RnR4, then X9, then any others. :)
ReplyDeleteNo more EXE/SSR please!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust wait. RnR's not dead yet.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's not dead. Just on life support.
ReplyDeletetl;dr
Seriously, the sales numbers speak for themselves. Each subsequent title in the RnR series has sold even less titles than the one before it, leaving me to wonder how exactly Capcom can justify still pumping resources into a failing series like RnR. Prime example: the ZX series. Despite how much people may have liked them, their sales weren't good enough for us to hear any word of a third game.
Second the motion that it's not just people here that are done with RnR. Honestly, the only people that I know personally that still want to play RnR games are 15+ years younger than me. Seriously, that's the target age group. The only other people I know that like those games are the kind that just eat up anything and eveything "card". Which really leaves the rest of us high and dry just because we don't want to play Mega Man games that cost only marginally less to make than they bring in.
Who said they would stop there? There could still be more games in the future for any of the other series as well. It's won't be a "one game per year" policy this time if the fans demand another sequel.
ReplyDeleteFace it, a Japanese-founded company is primarily interested in what it's Japanese market wants. Pseudo-RPGs are what Japan wants, and Capcom is delivering accordingly.
ReplyDeleteMore SSR, MORE SSR!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletef*ck you haters!!!! I know SSR seies isn't that great, but its not that bad. I would like to see A ZX 3 as well. Give SSR a chance the seies might be better after how good SSR 3 was. I'm with bass DS and mike and with anyone else who likes SSR. Come on everybody SSR 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf "pseudo-RPGs" are what Japan wants, awesome. By all means, let Capcom continue to attempt to reach that target demographic. My point is that if they want to do that, they need to step up their game. The sales data does not reflect success at doing this. I'm talking about sales data worldwide, let alone Japan proper. And if the sales in Japan are any indication of how well this "pseudo-RPG" series aimed at its local fans is doing, then Capcom is still doing something wrong.
ReplyDeleteThey're trying desperately to reclaim the success that the EXE series possessed, but they've lost something in the translation. Some people are obviously satisfied with RnR's attempt to fill the shoes of EXE. Many others are not so easily pleased.
The thing I find sad is that until Capcom can figure out what exactly it is that they want to do with Rockman at this point in time, we can probably expect to see more of the same disappointments. If they're going to continue these half-hearted attempts to rekindle interest in a hero that's been re-invented so often that he has become but a shadow of his former self, then I'm glad I still own all of the older games that made me fall in love with Mega Man in the first place. As long as I don't become utterly bored with those, then I'll still have a library full of Mega Man games that I actually find FUN.
well since the story ended with the return of geo's father to Earth, ending the series like this would be stupid, so yes i want SSR4, but X9 ZX3 or a EXE7 or Legends 3 as well, but no more classic megaman crap.
