Avid Mega Man fan Peter Sjostrand brings us another look at his Mega Man 2.5D fan-game, an attempt to render MM2 in 3D...sort of. This particular footage shows off the intended co-operative mode:
I'm curious to know what he's using to program this game. If he is using DirectX or OpenGL, this guy is no doubt a pro programmer. Although, even if he is using something already incuding an extensive library, I would still have to say he does have both talent and sense.
@Anon, Peter Sjostrand seems to be a professional animator. If anyone could make something look good, his line of work could. As for the DirectX/OpenGL comment, you might want to email him directly to find out.
Yeah it's lookin' pretty good so far, I'd say! A two player co-op sidescroller Megaman game's just what I've been waiting for. I liked Power Battle and Fighters, but this is gonna be pretty cool! Any word on when it might be released?
This looks pretty good, and I liked the first video he made a while back. I will admit, however, that the 2-player co-op is a bit gimmicky, although I think it would be awesome once fully implemented into a game.
Still, for now it looks like no game exists and that these are just professional animations, but I'm hoping that he (or someone) is actually working on a title like this in their spare time, or at least considering doing so.
I'm not a pro programmer by any means, but I would think a game like that *could* be easy to do. If you put it on rails, 2-d like he has it and have left & right triggers that flip the world in that direction. Basically everything moves in a straight line, no diagonals. But again, I have like 0 graphics programming experience.
Snakeman isn't in Megaman 2!
ReplyDeleteBut holy cow, that looks so awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's truly amazing. I really wish a game like this were made officially by capcom. Much kudos to the creator. Very, very well done.
ReplyDeleteit did say co-op based on megaman 3, which snakeman is in.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing, why does capcom not do anything with this guy!
Awesome! I am drooling. Capcom should do that in the near future like that. It is so Klonoa like!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to play this.
ReplyDeleteSo wait this is actually going to be a real fan game?
ReplyDeleteI want to hug this guy if it is.
Capcom could take a lesson or two from this guy!

ReplyDeleteIt's not a playable game, it's an animation made in Maya.
ReplyDeleteHe said it himself in the comments of his previous video.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind Capcom adopting this project and turning this into an XBL/PSN/WiiWare game. Amazing work.

ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Too bad the only 2 player Mega Man games are spin-offs like Power Battle and Soccer and mini-games like the "secret" in MM7...
ReplyDeleteCapcom wouldn't even have to use 8-bit sprites to do a nice 2.5D megaman. I could go for a pretty-looking 2.5D Megaman.

ReplyDeleteThat is by far the coolest Mega Man fan game....ever! Capcom needs to hire that guy RIGHT NOW.
ReplyDeleteThe Co-op was very interesting!
