GameFaqs' "Best. Game. Ever" contest is heating up as we enter the division finals. Tonight, the beloved Mega Man 2 joins the fray, contending against the likes of Tetris, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. VERY tough competition!
If you're love for the game is strong, show your support and vote here!
It's too bad GameFAQs is seething with simple minded folk who buy into whatever is advertised the most.
ReplyDeletegamefaqs community is complete crap full with 12 yo retards.
ReplyDeleteOh common, we got to at least beat Tetris
ReplyDeleteYes, it's unfortunate. It turns the contest purely into a popularity contest. To truly define a Best Game Ever you would have not only establish criteria that only this game meets, but establish the fact that anyone can like a bad game, or even dislike a good one.
ReplyDeleteYou are wrong, Pluvius.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad this doesn't really have an impact on anything important in our daily lives.
ReplyDeleteShockingly, I haven't played Megaman 2 or the original Zelda, even though those are my two favorite video game series. I really need to pick those up.
Eh, there isn't a bad game to choose from on that list. They're all among the best games of all time.
ReplyDelete@Josh,
ReplyDeleteSound like you know what you are talking about! I agreed!
Hey Protodude just thought you might like to know Kotaku is having a "Robot Wars" contest complete with a poll. Megaman seems currently second place with 12% of the vote.
ReplyDeleteGiven that the same community that votes based on popularity in the GameFAQs contests every year also nominated these games and gave them enough support to get in, it's pretty safe to say that the nomination proceedings were as much of a botched popularity contest as the actual contest is.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, Tetris is probably the best of those games. It's perfect for what it is.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I'd list them, in descending order:
Mega Man 2
Tetris
Zelda
Super Mario Brothers
But then again, ignoring Tetris, I don't even consider those to be the best in those series. If I had to pick a rep from each, I'd go with Mega Man & Bass, Zelda 2, & Super Mario World. *Shrugs*
MEGAMAN 2. BEST. GAME. EVERRRRRRR.
ReplyDeleteWho even cares about those stupid polls that GameFAQs always puts up? They're meaningless and they're rigged.
ReplyDeleteThis is Gamefaqs dudes. It's 90% fanboys that think SSBB is the best "fighting" game ever.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to Zelda. I love the series.
Well after reading all of these comments I don't think we can discount the Mega Man bias here. You'd think MM2 was going up against a Simpsons game or something...
ReplyDelete@Pluvius: Really? I didn't like Megaman & Bass all that much. Of course, out of the original series it was ok. But out of all megaman games it's pretty low on the list. Maybe it's because I played the GBA version...
ReplyDeleteI agree on the Super Mario World though.
"This is Gamefaqs dudes. It's 90% fanboys that think SSBB is the best "fighting" game ever."
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it's the most fun. Best, maybe not, but definitely most fun.
@Josh:
What's wrong with Simpsons games? Bart's Nightmare & Virtual Bart in particular were my favorites as a kid. & let's not forget Konami's beat 'em up.
"@Pluvius: Really? I didn't like Megaman & Bass all that much. Of course, out of the original series it was ok. But out of all megaman games it's pretty low on the list. Maybe it's because I played the GBA version..."
I loved it. The difficulty was spot on, the endless Bolt system allowed for old-fashioned farming, much like the score ball farming in MM1. No E-Tanks meant no pussies could pass, & it definitely had interesting weapons, good music, & a wonderfully executed Forte. Yea, it's my favorite MM game, probably.
Pluvius,
ReplyDeleteThe arcade game was awesome. All the old NES games though... just go play them again. They're horrible. Worst controls I've ever played in a game.
My point was though, Mega Man 2 is up against great games, but the people on here are acting like it's losing to trash.
@Josh:
ReplyDeleteOh, those ones. I thought you were talking about the SNES ones, which I've always loved. You gotta love the Road Warrior level in Virtual Bart. :D
Well, I personally abhor Super Mario Brothers, but that's me. I'm not a fan of the momentum physics in it, & not being able to backtrack is just retarded. It's also very strong in the "right power-up at the right time" play mechanic, which was less present in some of the others, but extremely present in New SMB, which I couldn't even enjoy playing.
As for Zelda 1, well, I think it was groundbreaking but highly overrated. 3 was better for a top-view RPG, & I personally think that Zelda was at its best with the style of 2, but that's one of many opinions of mine that the business & fanbase don't seem to share.
That poll is bollocks. Just a nintendo fanboy fest. 8 out of the last 10 games remaining are nintendo. and ask any serious gaming journalist for a top ten im sure there would be a few nintendo titles in that list, but not almost all of it. At the end of the polling they're planning a giant circlejerk around a statue of shigeru miyamoto.
ReplyDeleteMore like jerking off to Cloud. & be nice to the retarded Nintendo fans. At least the games they like are fun.
ReplyDeleteI recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I dont know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
