A little disheartening news today: Mega Man Network local, Christian, attended the recent Street Fighter IV National Tournament where Seth Killian, Capcom USA's community manager, was present. Christian had some time to speak with Seth, requesting if he had any idea of what games MM fans could expect beside the upcoming Star Force 3. Seth's answer: "You’ll be waiting a while."
2009 has been one hell of a boring year for the franchise, can you possibly imagine more waiting? Regardless, TMMN is currently in the process of gaining a little bit of clarification from Seth.
I wonder, where does Coro Coro's mystery game fit into all of this?
More waiting? What a surprise. Capcom should be very glad that there are STILL MegaMan fans around, the way they treat them. There may be some that like it but I think Star Force is a truly worthless series. Just another game that tries to compete with Pokemon, and I thought all those days were over? Battle Network was enough. I hate to think that this is all MegaMan fans will get for years to come. Its ridiculously ludicrous.
ReplyDeleteWhat hate. YOu should take what Seth says with a grain of salt. He just likes to mess with Mega Man fans. Remember the secret of Mega Man 9? LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's never tried to compete with Pokemon. By all means, more SF is ok with me.
ReplyDelete"Capcom should be very glad that there are STILL MegaMan fans around, the way they treat them."
ReplyDeleteFlip that around.
Megaman fans should be glad Capcom is still making megaman games. :P Sure, it's a cash cow, but not that many companies (besides Nintendo and maybe sega) hold onto a character for so long.
@MegaMac - In all honesty, it's in Capcom's interest NOT to release a Megaman game every year. Sales have been sliding, times are rough, I personally would rather them not release a game, have it fail, then decide not to release any more.
ReplyDeleteYou know what they say...
ReplyDelete"More time development, the better games they are..."
^ Unfortunately, fans grow up... If they keep doing that, some will simply move on with life.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the crisis, the amount of new games will probably be low this and next year... And like the other anon said: "More time development, the better games they are..." (unless it's Battle Network or Star Force game. :P I prefer actions games like ZX and Legends)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what to think of the Mega Man series, as it stands.
ReplyDeleteMany sites claim it to be iconic, and yet the sales never reach iconic levels. Mario, Sonic, FF; Mega Man really does deserve to share that same limelight as it has been a great series (even if it has had its ups and downs). Even pre-MM9 Mega Man is better than current Sonic.
So I'm not sure it's that Capcom should be grateful to its Mega Man fans or vice versa, as much as it is, they kinda huddle up and rough it together.
A source claiming to work for Capcom in a thread I saw (he seemed reasonably reliable) says that "Capcom Japan doesn't really reveal things to us often. They're usually very secretive so I would just keep an eye out at Tokyo Game Show, we don't have any MM related news at E3."
ReplyDeleteTake it with several grains of salt, but it meshes with what we've heard.
^
ReplyDeleteI'm on it, I got one of my guys following the scoop now.
There was some Mega Man news at E3 this year. In case anyone missed it, the fighting game Tatsunoku Vs. Capcom, which features Mega Man Trigger (MML) and the original Roll, will be arriving in the U.S. Perhaps, possibly, this could be a light hint at a new development in the Legends story. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd we did wait a while
