Rockman's conception is an accumulation of various Japanese heroes: Mazinger, Kikaider, Speed Racer and undeniably Astro Boy , the Mickey Mouse of Japan. That said, I think the character deserves a certain level of respect from Rockman fans. So, for those who've never see a single episode of Astro Boy, YouTube has something in store for you: Every episode of the classic 1980's series and the more recent 2003 series is now available for viewing legally, free and in english. Click on the respective preceding links to check them out.
And while you're here:
Dang, either youtube is being hammered or our access is crap tonight. I get like 1.5M/s download speeds here but this video keeps stalling out.
ReplyDeleteBah, English dubs are crap. Purist subbos for the win!
ReplyDelete@anon:
ReplyDeletePurists are also weeaboos
It's not regionlocked unlike every other legal anime on the internet O_O
ReplyDelete@Anon2
ReplyDeleteSo? Maybe we like being weeaboos. :/
@ Anon 2: You know, we'd actually watch it in English if the VAs could ACTUALLY ACT. Unfortunately, they match epic fail actors with roles that their voices don't come close to fitting. As far as I'm concerned, things are usually best when viewed in the language of the country of origin.
ReplyDeleteOMG at weaboos, get the hell out of America if you think that Japan is so damn great. And how do you know that that Japanese versions don't suck? That's right, you don't.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I always wanted to see Astro Boy! Here's my chance!
ReplyDeleteAnd people, no arguing. Just watch whichever dub or sub you prefer. No need to bring out the torches and pitchforks.
Yes, I would love to watch an english dub of the EXE series if it had GOOD voice actors, the music weren't awful, and they didn'tcramthreewholesentencestogetherreallyfastwhentheytalk.
ReplyDeleteDubs are awful. >_<

ReplyDeleteJust for the record, the Japanese voice work really is better than the American version, take my word for it. Buy the DVDs, and you'll see exactly what I mean.

I think you're talking to me(I am the one that said OMG at the Weaboos,)but I'm not saying that the sub is bad,or that the dub is,though it probably is(the dub),but I'm saying that since you can't speak, unless you can that is,that you have no idea is the sub is good or not. You can of course tell if it's better than the dub.
Even without knowing Japanese in its entirety you can still catch inflection and timing and even if you know just a little bit you can tell if it's good.
ReplyDelete@that guy said again:
ReplyDeleteI get what you're saying, and also I can speak it, though I still have a ways to go, so I understand a bit. Even still, it's a clear-cut winner when you compare voices. I'm also not going out and saying all English dubs are bad, either. In some cases, it's actually better.
