Udon Dates R20 For North America, Coming In Two Volumes

According to Udon's release schedule, the company plans on releasing "R20: Rockman & Rockman X Official Complete Works" in North America in two individual volumes, splitting the original 336 page book in half:

The first volume, Mega Man: Official Complete Works, will presumably contain all the classic series contents of R20 while the second volume, Mega Man X: Official Complete Works will represent the later, X series half of the book.

The books won't be released simultaneously; MMOCW is coming sometime September 2009 while MMXOCW will arrive in November. No additional information other than that, but this is great news to say the least.

Thanks for the tip Anon

  1. Ah... it looks like the cat's been let out of the bag, eh? That means I can go ahead and confirm that I will be once again serving as the lead English adaptor on the project (I did for Mega Man Zero OCW and Okami DW as well), and am actually just about to begin working on the books.

I'll keep you guys updated if possible, but either way, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you have a lot to look forward to. :)

  2. Holy crap. I have always wanted this but I never expected it to be released. This confirms my suspicions of Udon's greatness.

  3. Finally nice to hear some news about R20, especially after all the Street Fighter IV craziness. Though hopefully if the book is split, the prices at least will be cheaper each volume to compensate.

    That said, can't wait!

  5. Will it be too much to hope that the pictures get enlarged from 'tiny, nearly invisible thumbnail' to something legible if the book is split in two? :/

When I wanted to buy the japanese version of the book, it was sold out everywhere... It's my chance to finally got this masterpiece.

  8. @Ash: So, able to discuss any reason behind the company's decision to split the book? Shouldn't be hardly any pages that would pose a problem, but I'm curious if anything will be cut or where something like the multi-series images or manga section will go.

...And wonder if we'll get special covers or bonus content. LOL

@Anonymous #3: The pictures in the Japanese version were nowhere near "tiny, nearly invisible thumbnails." And it's printed in one of the biggest book formats anyhow. Nor do I think the layout will change much for any of the pages, moreso just the order of them.

  9. A good bonus content would be MM9 artwork. Though not new, it would be a good adition to the book.

  10. The prices together better be around what the Japanese book cost (got around $50)

I wonder why the split though?

  11. This is excellent news! I don't really care that the books will be split, but I'm just glad we have release dates now. I've been waiting for this for a long time!

Hmmm...but hopefully with the split, maybe this means we'll get MM9 coverage in the Classic M20 volume? (I know, too much to hope for. =P)
