Tezuka Productions is gearing up to produce an all new eighteen minute Astro Boy special titled "Another Story." The program details Astro's life after the events of the manga wherein he is rescued by the "Ravax" team and miraculously revived by "Space Jack." Fully repaired, Astro is upgraded into a new super robot: "Ratom."I have nothing but respect for Astro Boy (and Tezuka himself), but this new design -- well, it kind of looks like something we're all too familiar with. It's neat looking, don't get me wrong, but the design looks heavily Rockman inspired.

ReplyDeleteUmmmm wow, I honestly thought it was a cheap Rockman knockoff when I first saw the image, since it was the first thing to load on the page, but then I was relieved to find out itss just Astroboy.
ReplyDeleteThough this does have a VERY errie resemblance to the EXE and Ryuusei's style of anime. I wonder who is animating it?

ReplyDeleteIt does look like a knockoff... Astro boy may have been first, but I think it's become even more generic than Rockman. (Which is hard to believe anything could be. O_o)

ReplyDeleteI feel ashamed I've never seen the anime of Astro Boy, and I know how respected he is. I guess I should look for this one whenever it gets released or try to search the old anime (Either the original or remake).

Wasn't rockman based on Astro Boy originally? I guess its kind of fitting that they turned around and did the same thing.

I love Astro/Atom, but I hate to see him thrown into what looks like a silly vanity project on the part of some band; if you want to make another Interstella 555, at least make original characters, please? ;p
