Not bad, but you can definitely tell it's fan-made; the drawings are pretty janky and the music is chaotically awful and not Mega Man-like at all. Still, from a gameplay and structural standpoint, this is legit as hell. Also, the story gimmick (Wily's really good this time, someone kidnaps him and controls his robots) sounds like something Capcom would actually do. This was a fun little distraction.
God, I can't wait until Mega Man 10 really gets announced. :)
Have to agree on the 8 bosses bat damn that was awsomne! there no question on who the mysterybot is but megaman know who he is and the he has a grige against his creator. it makes no sence for him to hide, specially with his ego,
The best part was the intro, with its nonsensical plot that is so-bad-it's-awesome. The worst part was the soundtrack. It's just not good. The robot masters seem likely to me. Especially Rainbow Man. Every Mega Man game needs one of those (Hard Man, Wood Man, Plug Man, etc.) :P Anyway, as someone else already pointed out, the jumping physics need more work.
I'm telling you, this guy's done all the work for them! All Capcom has do now is fix up the quirks here and there and Voila! Instant money! I mean, the story's cannonically sound, the Robot Masters are plausible, and it even comes with STAGES! Cost-effective!
You are not correct.. Rockman was going to be called Rainbow Man but they thought it was too much to be called Rainbow Man so they go for Rockman instead.
No, that is correct. Rainbow Man was already in existence when Rockman was created. That wiki article is either incorrect, or Capcom axed the name because it already existed.
I highly doubt it is one person. There are far too little details posted, and as a game creator myself, I know how long these things take. If one person really did do the plan, the programming, the graphics and the music all alone within the time since 9 came out until now, he is obviously one of the smartest and most talented people in the world.
Which leaves the other possibilities open. He has been working on it for years and just changed the title and whatnot since the announcement of 9, or he has worked on it with a talented team of programmers and graphicers.
Althugh, whatever the casemay be, for a fan creation it is considerably well done.
It's definitely not a romhack, the running, jump and falling speeds are different from the original games.
It sure looks like a fangame but knowing MegaPhil I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's an animation. He's very good at animation and video editing and I've never seen any programming work from him.
These sorts of games don't take that long to make. If given the right tools, you can make entire games lickety-split. A lot of the resources were already available to him from previous Rockman games.
EXTREMELY COOL!!!! What more do you need???
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY thing about MM9 that got me more excited than this was that 9 is out! I WASH this was!
Not BAD! I kinda want to play this now. The RM's are kinda questionable though, I mean "Rainbow Man"?

Holy crap, DO WANT!
ReplyDeleteI am drooling. Is it a fanmade or it is going to be release for Wii from Capcom of USA/Capcom of JAP ? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteYup, not bad. He took the MegaMan9 essence and added some fan-art. The idea looks good, but most of the elements don't match the MegaMan things. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with Rainbow Man ? It's neat, isn't it ? Whatever weird name of enemies.. I dont question them but you question Rainbow man ? *GRIN*

It looks nice, where I can get the Game?
ReplyDeleteHmm... interesting. I wonder if they used the tool I use to make games or if this is just an animation...
ReplyDelete'Rainbow Man' was what Megaman was originally going to be called, so it's a nod to Megaman's origins.
ReplyDelete@ Jace
ReplyDeleteWhat about Top Man, Jewel Man, Charge Man, Hard Man, Wood Man, etc.? Megaman has always had awkwardly-named bosses.
Man! I WASH I could play this game!

ReplyDeleteRainbow man was not Megaman's original name. It was one of the inspirations, along with Astro Boy, for Megaman's designs.
ReplyDeleteGlue, hammer, and nail...all in one game? Ah, whatever. This looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis is about a million times better than any other fan made game I've ever seen. Best of all...it actually looks playable!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous,

ReplyDeleteI know what I'm talking about. ;)
What does the mega buster at the title screen means?
ReplyDeleteOh no..don't tell me..
this game looks like fan made crap.
ReplyDeleteFunny how one person could make this so quickly and Capcom is worried about money at all.

Hey theres Glueman wheres Paperman?
ReplyDeleteguy who created this really good i mean Rainbowman thats ok...
That was great. Though, the art and music could use some improvement.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that the "Cataclysm Theory" isn't dead to some... It looked almost like Zero.. And why is Rockman's buster disconnected from Rock?
ReplyDeleteWow, I definately want a playable version of this fan made game. I thought it was pretty good in my opinion. I hope to see more vids on it as well.
