Woo boy, hold onto your hats for this one. PRC reader Thomas brings word of a hefty rumor concerning the "mystery" Rockman game:"According to a topic over at 2Channel, the mystery Rockman game teased in both Nintendo Dream and Coro Coro is a new hobby style series nicknamed “Shin Rockman” (新ロックマン). Slated to be released in late summer on the DS, the series will presumably be the successor to the Ryuusei series. The source of the rumor, a lone 2CH user, claims this new series will offer an experience that will resemble the gameplay of the .EXE series while at the same time, offer a more “action oriented” style of play that “all Rockman fans will find enjoyable.” In order to build hype for the game, Capcom will once again use Coro Coro Comics as an outlet to spread news and information, as is the case with the new boss design contest."--Thomas
Unlike the previous 2Channel rumor, I personally cannot vouche for this one's legitamacy, so take this one with a grain of salt.

ReplyDeleteOf course, it's all hearsay, and I'll be damned if I haven't seen a good few made-up rumors myself in my time.
Sounds like a Swing and a Miss to me. I was really hoping Capcom would take a clue from the incredible success of Megaman 9 and the poor showing of ZXA and SSR3.

ReplyDeleteIt seems kind of soon, doesn't it? O_o Already replacing SSR? By the sounds of it, this might be better, maybe it'll be closer to EXE, but I don't know. Seems kinda sudden.
I hope it isn't EXE gameplay with a robot or human Rockman. EXE gameplay is reserved for EXE.
Why must we call it "hobby style"? I don't like "hobby". It cheapens whatever word or thing is associated with it.
ReplyDeleteAnother new series? What would that have to do with the rest of the rumors? A new series doesn't make me think of a "masterpiece." However, it would fit in more with the "one after another released" (making it "series after another released"), and "latest work" phrases.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to take this rumor into full consideration until we can get some proof. I'm really not up for another new series yet since I really want Capcom to finish up series that they still need to finish; mainly Mega Man Legends 3, X9, and ZX3. Capcom has really been focusing on the "hobby" games lately. They should show some more love to the other genres like they did with Mega Man 9. =(
I'm not completely sure, but remember that Mega Man 9 was once a rumor, too.

ReplyDeleteRnR had several names before its release; Shinsei Rockman, Rockman ZN, Rebirth Rockman, etc.
If it is a fourth SSR game I will be happy, even though I would like something fresh and new.(Which are 2 words CAPCOM need to get to know a little better) Even if it is a little too early for a new series. And though I would like a fourth SSR game, I really hope this rumor is true.

There will never be DSi exclusive software. Not gonna happen. It's not the DS's full fledged replacement, just a little upgrade.
ReplyDeleteThere IS going to be DSi exclusive software, haven't you seen the DSware system? Granted that the DSi has practically the same hardware as the DS, there are things it can do that the normal DS cannot.

ZX is fixable, but I hope they don't make another one too soon. Less gimmick, and more gameplay.

What have they really added to the Rockman/Mega Man franchise? I would be happy if they never made another! I say they should add to the series that Mega Man is built on!

ReplyDeleteI stand corrected. Maybe we will get DSi exclusive download content, Capcom's nuts for making you spend a few extra bucks. What with e-cards, noise change cards and what not.
EXE IS a kiddy game, you're free to enjoy it as an adult, but it's still aimed at Japanese school children, no matter who enjoys it. I wish we'd get more "all ages" titles like Mega Man 9 though.
I suppose when you put it that way a lot of the Rockman series are aimed at kids.
ReplyDeleteEXE is no more kiddy than the other series, whoever it was aimed at. And difficulty also does not determine whether or not a game is a kid's game.
Hopefully they'll revive the idea of a 3D-oriented BN game, like the BN5 they gave up on.
ReplyDeleteonce again, i do not view EXE as a kids game. In fact, RockMan was basically half dead and on life support until EXE. Although I didn't get into RockMan until I was 13,which was between EXE 4 and 5.

the DSi must have some seperate software because i dont beleive nintendo would out a camera on the dsi just to screw around.There mmust be some upcoming DSi tech games coming. There has got to be and also DSi can only access the DSware store so DS lite is left behind.
