Nintendo Comments On Crappy VC Update
Our hopes of receiving MegaMan on the Virtual Console were crushed by an unexpected crap load of SEGA games. What happened? Didn't Capcom announce an August 4th release? Of course they did, in their now MIA press release.
In fact, Capcom wasn't the only publisher to make announcements regarding August 4th's update. Both SNK and Hudson previously announced that Samurai Showdown II and Ys Book I&II would be included in the August 4th line up, but failed to show. So, what the heck happened? Nintendo has the answer:
"A number of variables can affect a game’s release date. Therefore, the Wii-kly Update is the only authority for confirmed release dates of Virtual Console games."
The lesson from this: Publishers still have no control or knowledge of their games' VC releases. In the end, our expectations are screwed.

ReplyDeleteI'm starting to like Nintendo less and less...
ReplyDeleteBooooooo, Nintendo, booooooo!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love Nintendo because they still make great games, but when it comes to their administration, it's horrible. Not to mention implementation of online features (ie friend codes)
ReplyDeleteRight after nintendo saying that us gamers arent their target anymore just turned me away from them. plus they sucked at E3. Animal Crossing and Pikmin? Please. Megaman 9 and Fatal Frame 4 are the last games im buying for the Wii and Castlevania Order of Ecclesia for the DS. Im giving my Ps3 and the 360 full attention.

ReplyDeleteActually, Nintendo never said such a thing. On the contrary, they did say capturing the hardcore audience is vital to keeping their position in the industry.
"So while attending an E3 event like this, they might be given the impression that Nintendo is no longer focusing on the games that appeal to the core gamer, in fact we?re still working on many of those titles, but it?s just not the type of event where we?ll be showcasing that anymore."

E3 is now considered a "media summit", an event viewed by mainstream news outlets. So, to appeal to these outlets such as NBC, CNN, USA Today, Nintendo chose to unveil "casual" games that would appeal to the viewers of those mainstream outlets. It really is no surprise why Nintendo did not debute a new Mario, Zelda or something for the core audience. Why? Because the mainstream doesn't care.
Hang tight, more Wii games aimed at the core gamer are coming. These games will most likely be announced at other events not covered my the mainstream media such as TGS, GDC, and Nintendo's own press conferences.
Also keep in mind, we're only a year and a half into the Wii's life cycle. The best games in a console's life come out years after its conception.
Ill try and hold on
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend you get hyped about "The Conduit."

Third party title, incredible graphics, online multiplayer and voice chat. What more could ya want? :)
Wow, pretty impresive graphics for wii (if that is running on the wii) for the Conduit. Nice find!
ReplyDeleteYes, what you see is all done on Wii. You see, Wii games can look good if developers are willing to put some actual work into it.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! I'd have to say that is pretty impressive. Hope this game is pretty good from what i've seen and read so far im might get hyped for this game.
ReplyDeleteBROOKLYN RAGE!

Hypercoyote (I'm not sure if he's insulting the friend codes or not.. I kinda like them.. You have to know the person so it helps to know that the person isn't a psycho)
But it IS a BIG dissapointment..
RM9 might come out later then it says? Curses!
Kaldeon, yeah I don't like the friend codes because I have to re-add my friends for every game I want to play with them. I should only have to add a person once.
