Capcom Survey Asks About Mega Man 11 and More Collections
Capcom Japan has launched an online survey asking fans what they'd like to see from the franchise next. The survey comes from a URL bundled with the Nintendo 3DS version of Rockman Classics Collection in Japan.
The first batch of questions are pretty generic, like which consoles you own and so forth. In the second set, Capcom asks if "you would like to play a new entry in the classic series (like Mega Man 11). The third set concerns future collections, basically asking which past series (X, Zero, Legends, Battle Network, ZX, Star Force) you'd prefer to see collected.
Although the survey is in Japanese, anyone can participate. All you need is a little help from Google Translate to make your way through. For the postal address, just type in six random numbers, three in each box and select any prefecture. It really doesn't matter.
The survey closes on Saturday, April 30th. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
Thanks to SenseiHanzo for the general translation!

Can we please stop getting good damn classic series games? Don't get me wrong i appreciate any games in the general series but the classic so over done like c'mon, Give me ZX3 give me x9 or god damn give me legends 3 for fuck sake its been to damn long since a NEW megaman game has come along.
ReplyDeleteUgh if they gave us a zero collection i would like it built fromthe ground up to match the speed striker has and actually fit the screen.
Network would be nice if we got all the ereader bonuses and suchs like forte gs or give us the full exe 6 game with no modifications like they did for the localization removing stuff
Starforce again if they put back in all the stuff they took out from 2 and 3 mainly 3
Ugh there is so much to add on to this
If we got something like Zero Collection for BN(even if it only had OSS or BN1GBA rather then both) I would love it, though Versions would be interesting(I would expect just a straight port of Double Team DS for 5 though)
DeleteIts almost like the Classic series is the main series or something, and so it gets top billing over the side stuff.
DeleteBut it wasn't. Classic series was ignored for X and so on and so forth for a long time; getting MM9 and 10 and having them be not just Classic but also Retro was shocking. Honestly I just want more Classic myself, the other series were just not as fun, but I get Francisco's complaint.
DeleteThey went onto other series to try to bring fresh air into the series, but at the end of the day the Classic series is the "face" of the whole Mega Man series. Everything else from that are spinoffs no matter how you try to look at it, just really popular spinoffs.
DeleteHonestly, the classic series was the only one I really liked.
DeleteI know right. I would love to see megaman zx 3 or maybe a megaman game where wily comes back because in megaman 10 its proved that wily is a robot in the end
DeleteHope I did it right. I'd love to see more Mega Man games of any kind, even collections.
ReplyDeleteMega Man 11, with beautiful HD sprites and a catchy rock'n soundtrack, oh and NOT developed by inticreates. Man... nothing would make me happier.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with Inti? They made some of the best games in the franchise and contiud to make decent games afterwards.
DeleteI agree with Bart. Inti rocks tits way hard. 4 was the only classic Megaman I enjoyed that Inti didn't do. All of their games are brilliant. Don't get me started on the Zero series.
DeleteLmao! You must want your games to be easy.
DeleteDon't agree, they've made the two worst games in the series 9 and 10. The level designs are not up to par to the first seven games or even MM8, and it turned into trial and error, which is not what the previous games were.
DeleteGraphically 9 and 10 are a lot worse with all the black backgrounds and lack of detail, and the soundtracks have terrible instrumentation, 10's music is bad in general.
As for the Zero games... those are okay but they're more akin to something like Shinobi than Mega Man. I wouldn't even call them platformers...
And now they're doing Mighty No. 9, I've played four stages, and it had all the same problems and then some... the only thing I enjoyed about that beta was the boss fights.. It was the only thing that came close to playing like Mega Man.
Come on man Inticreates did good in creating Z series, I think the most bullshit thing Capcom ever did was not letting them do X7-8.
Delete9 and 10 the worst in the series, really? Maybe you haven't played 1 in a while but it is pretty rough. 10 has a lot of problems but 9 is a solid game. The black backgrounds in 9 were probably used to emulate the simpler backgrounds of Mega Man 2 (Crash man, Bubble Man, Wily levels).
DeleteWhen it came to the which series I would like to play, I chose all of them, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'd want a redone Megaman X Collection with those supposed updates that were originally done for it like the remade music before Capcom/Inafune (I don't remember who made that decision) stupidly pulled those upgrades out.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I remember the last Capcom survey back in 2012. It had a similar collection-related question where Battle Network was an option.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.rockman-corner.com/2012/12/capcom-digital-survey-asks-some-very.html
Nothing came of that back then, though, so...
Yep.
DeleteGonna go ahead and not hold my breath until I have something in my hands personally.
Since Google Translate didn't detect anything isn't going to be forthcoming for the dropdowns and my browser didn't let me copy anything out of the dropdown: Here's what I managed to get Google to spit out after an extra 20 seconds of looking in the site script.
ReplyDeleteQ12: This game of new (such as "Mega Man 11") will be released When you have to be, do you think you want to play
1. Want to buy any time by a new game machine
2. Want to buy If you get in a game machine that have
3. Would you consider buying a look at the sale after the state
4. Although buy do not want to play like the
5. Do not want to play anymore
And the raw text if someone with literacy wants to try better
Since this survey is for Japanese speakers, I have to question how ethical it is to take part in it. There could be a possibility that there'll be a version for English speakers, and if that's the case, is it really right for us to skew the results of what Capcom wants to know what people in Japan want? Especially since we know the West has very different tastes than Japan does.
ReplyDeleteethics don't matter in this japanese players want megaman as much we want it remember the legends 3 thing a lot of japanese people participated in that here.
DeleteIn the end it all goes to the fans
But what if we end up skewing the results in a way that ends up getting something released in Japan that would end up unpopular there? If it doesn't do well in Japan, you can be sure we'll likely not be getting it in the West (just look at Ace Attorney Investigations 2). We could be shooting ourselves in the foot. And once that happens, I imagine we'll all blame Capcom for it, even though it's actually our own fault.
DeleteAnd ethics DO matter. How would you feel if we got a poll like this first, and Japanese people voted on it based on their tastes? Hey, guess what's popular in Japan? Mobile phone games! The thing that everyone in the Western fandom seems to actively hate.
It's just not right that we're hijacking something that's intended for Japanese fans.
While mobile phone games are enjoyed by many Nihongo, take note that the PS4, Vita and 3DS are killing sales charts over in Japan. I don't think you have to worry about consoles going anywhere, because no one wants to play epic RPGs or action games on a cell phone. It's clunky, unimmersive and not quite the same experience as sitting in front of the TV.
DeleteConsole games are going nowhere, the PS4 is currently selling extremely well alongside the Vita. The 3DS is also doing very well. イ would worry less about mobile, worry more about PC gaming.
Deleteseriously ,. dont ask me what to choose , i will tick it all as long as its related to megaman
ReplyDeleteI mean, I would love a remastered BN collection for 3DS / NX, mostly for convenience.
ReplyDeleteI just want a megaman x9 and a hd x1-8 collection for the current systems.
ReplyDeletex or zero collection for steam please!
ReplyDeleteMega Man 11?
ReplyDeleteFirst Capcoms need to make the franchise go back to evolving again. Will hold Mega Man classic in 8 Bits? Mega Man 7 and 8 were great games to think the classic can only get stuck on the NES.
Secondly, Even if Mega Man 10 Had a good gameplay, not only it was "more of the same" but it also had one of the most ridiculous and rushed plots in the franchise purely using as a basis the epidemic that occurred at the time, that created the satire "Roboenza". The idea of nostalgia was cool, but should have died in Mega Man 9.
Third, there are more important series that are still open. Where's Mega Man X9, ZX3 and Legends 3? It's kind of ridiculous to today Zero and Battle Network series are the only fully completed series. Until when will we keep stuck with collections and ports before we decide to move on? C'mon! It would not be the first nor the last game franchise to continue without his original creator. In fact it is quite common, What is Capcom afraid of? Can it go wrong? Yes it can. But you can't know until you do the first try. But a first try with conviction, a real first try.
Zero series led to ZX series and ZX Advent is not ended yet so I bet that Zero doesn't count as ended series.
DeleteX series has came to a good ending so I'm not expecting a new one actually.
And you forgot Star Force.
Did you just say X has come to a good ending? Looks like someone doesn't play the X games.
DeleteZero did not end, Inafune never confirmed what happened to Zero in 4. Before 4 was made 3 was considered the definitive ending, but because Inafune wanted more money he made 4 and boy it sure shows. Haven't you notice there isn't any type of bonus for 4 in the collection? It's because it isn't suppose to exist. And if it is the final game why don't they tell us what happens after it? ZX didn't answer crap and that infuriates me. I want a proper ending or explanation not this mysterious nonsense.
DeleteSounds like a grasping plea for more Zero-type games. I'd rather have an X reboot that de-prioritizes or removes Zero and focuses on X gameplay, but I'm not against continuing the ZX series. Either way it's wrong to say that the X series ended, let alone had a good ending.
DeleteNot true. Zero is indeed dead. Inti deliberately killed him off so there would be 5. See both links
Deletehttp://www.rockman-corner.com/2015/04/inti-creates-almost-developed-mega-man.html
http://www.usgamer.net/articles/companions-through-life-and-death-time-and-again-the-story-of-inti-creates-and-mega-man
@Protodude he said that as a jest, the creative design and story teams said they specifically left his fate ambiguous in the MMZOCW an official data defining publicized source, specifically to leave spectators wondering the true fate of Zero. My guess is to have leeway and not commit in case they ever had to bring the character back again. Even granted the "death" of heroes, the story is still confusing because of the Bio Metal BS.
Delete@Anonymous 9:06: Nope, not with you there, Zero is the greatest X character. If anything remove X(not really I like him), refine Zero's design a little and be golden.
I don't want a MM11 if is just another nostalgia cashgrab like 9 and 10, make a full fledged modern game, Capcom you lazy bums! Also, if you're not gonna use it to finally bridge the game between classic and X, don't even bother.
ReplyDeleteOn that note, I don't want more incomplete collections either! So if you're gonna collect the X series and leave out half of the games like you did with the classic colection (No escuse to leave out 7,8 and Power Fighters/Battle when even the PS2/NGC collections had them two generations ago) just spare yourselves the trouble. At least if yhey do a Zero collection they can't make any lazy excuse, since they're only four games and they're all on one plataform.
I'm sorry, but am I the only one that gave a Damn about Megaman And Bass? That game was awesome. And Bass is a badass. I would really like to see what happened to him in the story as well
DeleteMegaman X9 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI assume they're just trying to get an idea for his 30th next year.
ReplyDeleteI think a Mega Man Star Force collection makes a lot of sense, Firstly I love Star Force and would like to see at least something new come out of it, second, Star Force has never been re-released not even on Wii U VC and with the NX coming it may miss it's shot at that along with ZX. Third, Star Force put a huge focus on multiplayer elements and connectivity aspects, something that many players missed in the initial releases, which is a shame because they really added a lot to the experience without ever feeling mandatory, anyways with the 3DS's improved connectivity aspects I feel Star Force would fit even better on that system than it did DS, and a lot more people would finally get to play the series as it was meant to be experienced, Miiverse, StreetPass, Spotpass, System based friend codes and more make the 3DS Ideal for Star Force and online Wave Battles would finally come back from the grave!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing worth mentioning is that Star Force's battle system would look excellent if it were provided the 3D effect from the 3DS's top screen.
Also worth noting is that the best game in the Star Force series, Mega Man Star Force 3, was never released outside of the US and Japan, this could finally be the PAL regions chance to play the definitive Star Force game and see the series' conclusion(sort of,) for the first time.
Bonus features could include access to previously japan exclusive content and features like all the features that came from accessories, like Wave Scanners, or Noise Kaizou Gear, they could be activated similar to how the E reader features are activated in Zero 3 on the Zero collection, and also The Battle Networks sidequests could be unlockable upon fulfilling certain tasks within one of the games.
I can't see copyright issues standing in the way of a Star Force collection either, The Boktai scenario was removed from overseas versions of Star Force 1 and if it's truly impossible to include, they could just release the collection without it as they did before.
I know Star Force could have performed better financially, but I still think it did good enough to warrant a collection, I mean it sold 2 million copies with only three installments, the last of which skipped a PAL release, keep in mind it did this at a time where Mega Man was considered extremely over-saturated and was declining in sales because of consumers exhaust of the franchise, If Capcom chose to actually market the collection and spread the word about the connectivity features and multiplayer elements, I'm sure a number of people would hop on board to try out the series, especially since after the drought of Mega Man, people have been craving the franchise arguably more than ever before.
so yeah I'd absolutely love a new SF collection, and also I'd be all game for Mega Man 11, just hopefully it'd take a little more risks this time around, after revisiting Mega Man 8, I'm really loving it for daring to do new things with the Classic series without over-stepping it's boundaries, I'd like Mega Man 11 to try and feel just as refreshing.
Forgot to mention that all 3 Star Force games remain on one platform, so emulation could purely focus on one platform just like Legacy Collection did, to be fair though the same can be said for everything that isn't MMX, It'd also only have to be released for one platform as well, I really can't see it being that expensive to make either, I'd really love for them to go for it.
I agree with the starforce series being a good one to choose..
Deletebut I don't disagree because of how I enjoyed the series. I've played them all with anticipation of greatness but I think only the 3rd one captured the essence of it as a sequel series. Yes, overtime the games get better but as a collection I've enjoyed battle network way more. Only 1 has problems and it gives them the opportunity to port of OSS. If they did a revamp of the gameplay in SF1 and 2 to be as nice as 3 sure go with that otherwise I think it's time for a battle network collection
Regardless of what comes, IF anything comes of it i'll be sure to support it, i want the series to return to it's former glory instead of being relegated to cameos & references like it has been over the last few years. As much as some people have already expressed their feelings on the classic series it's still the one that made the franchise popular in the 1st place & is also the most recognizable also with the new cartoon being based on the classic series & supposedly coming out next year + it being the 30th anniversary it makes it all the more likely us seeing another classic series entry.
ReplyDeletePersonally i'd like to see MM11 go 2.5D using something similar to the Smash Bros character model & style (worked for Donkey Kong Returns/Tropical Freeze) Capcom can also add tonnes of other features to flesh out the game, the series has a lot of potential still that hasn't been tapped into... They could have the game as a platform, setup new social media channels for fans to submit Robot Master ideas & then add more stages & bosses to the game every month using fans designs, could give out prizes to winners like the old days.. Since Capcom are friendly with Nintendo right now you could have something similar to Wily Wars using Amiibo cards with past Robot Masters on which when scanned grant you their abilities, choose up to 8 with 3 utilities & create your own weapon set... Or you could combine all 3 of those ideas, have downloaded Master stages where the boss is weak to only a particular set of weapons, don't have it then you might have to improvise or go Buster only.. But that's just my thoughts..
I think Mega Man 11 should go with the two graphical styles they originally had planned for Mega Man 9. That way, they'll satisfy people on both sides: Those who aren't quite ready to part with the 8-bit art style, and those who are ready for the series to move on. As for me, I'm personally stuck in between.
ReplyDeleteExactly my opinion on this topic. I would buy Megaman11 if it had the tradional optics of the originals. But a new HD look would make the deal even sweeter (and also potentially beneficial for the sales due to the dull mainstream also getting on board).
DeleteAnything Inti-creates is involved with. These guys are geniuses.
ReplyDeleteINAFKING, I could go either way on. Inafune is a great concept visualizer but if Mighty#9 has taught us anything, he's pretty terrible when it comes to actual team management.
I hope it wont be just a megaman classic in 8bit style...fangame can do it now (like mm unlimited who is really cool).
ReplyDeleteWhat about a hd stuff but detailled, better than the style of the mm universe and with more details, but no 3D like MM PU...
If it was a megaman powered up with 2D HD graphism, i could buy it for sure!
But not just with megaman please....the serie need to grow up! :)
Yes! YES! YYYYEEEEESSSSSSS! We want MMLEGENDS 3! We want MM11, in MM8/MM&B style! And we want Quake Woman/Tempo as playbele character!

Can we get a Battlenetwork collection. It seems all we ever get are classic series. But Battlenetwork is my prefered megaman series.
ReplyDeleteMM X9!!
ReplyDeleteRockman X9 plzzzzz
ReplyDeleteMegaMan X9! Pleeeease.
ReplyDeleteAnd if they're going to make MegaMan 11, I hope they don't make it 8-bit style again like MM9 and MM10.. Enough with the nostalgia trips already
All I want to see is: Megaman 11 as tradition as Megaman 1-6 and 9-10 with a brand new robot masters and Megaman X9 for PS4, XBOX one, and NX. For 3DS Collection.. Megaman Battle Network Series and Megaman Zero Series separately in their own boxes. As well as Megaman 7, Megaman & Bass (SNES for the first time in English), Megaman X-X3 in the one box.
ReplyDeleteat this point i would rather just see capcom tank and reep the aftermath. whatever they do will fail, chances are. the trust of the gaming community has been lost in my book.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone said, some X9 love, MML3 and MM11 would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteBut i would also like they continue with the Maverick hunter X remake; X2, X3 and so on, with the same style, more cool backstories with good voice actors and with some awesome anime cutscenes, and even better graphics for the ps4
megaman for 1-6 ios android
ReplyDeleteMost of the comments are right, we need a new game of mega man, not a collection, but by thinking about it, for those ones who still loves the BN franchise, do you imagine a BN collection on 3DS with wireless connections and ONLINE battles?? that could be AWESOME!

ReplyDeletegive me back all of the series of megaman and keep it up to the end
ReplyDeleteI just want to see what happen after sigma defeated in x8. So i wish to see x9. And a better graphic of course. Also the megaman (1-10) serious are too much for a 8-bit games. I appriciate cause they are my childhood. but let them rest.
ReplyDeleteI think they should release Megaman Powered Up on 3DS and do some sequels, it'd be a perfect time since Mario Maker is so popular and that game has rad DLC and stage building years before
ReplyDeleteAnd if they would do a brand no classic game, I'd say Duck Tales remastered style
Yes! YES! YYYYEEEEESSSSSSS! We want MMLEGENDS 3! We want MM11, in MM8/MM&B style! And we want Quake Woman/Tempo as playbele character!

Having not been able to play Legends 2 or The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, I'd love it if we could get a full Legends collection release. Bonus if it also includes the L3 demo, though that might be too much of a sore spot for some.
ReplyDeleteJust make a modern Mega Man game that doesn't suck please Capcom. Legends 3 MM11 X9 BN7 SF4 ZX3 CM2 heck even B&C2 for goodness sake it doesn't matter as long as it's good and retains the essence of the Mega Man game it is succeeding. DAMN
ReplyDeleteBut if I had to pick one sequel and how it should be done ZX3 please, with HD sprites and available on home consoles. If it has to be MM11 than do the same to it as ZX3 with it, except ZX was doing good evolving the gameplay mechanics from game to game so keep the way the series has been progressing continued, and with Classic evolve the mechanics, add new moves, increase the size of the roster of Robot Masters, let stages effect each other SOMETHING DAMN!
Thank you for hearing my rant request.
I don't want a "Mega Man 11". The series ended at Rockman & Forte, as far as I'm concerned. It was a great way to end the classic series.
ReplyDeleteReally though, I'd much rather have Mega Man Universe. I'd having a lot of fun making my own levels for Blyka's contest and would jump at the chance to make fan levels for another official game, especially with Universe's level of detail.
But sadly, I'm in the minority on both of these opinions...
Wow, then you are not a fan of Megaman. I love Megaman NES series.. It must continue. There are so many robot masters to be creative. It would be very interesting what they have in their minds.
DeleteI share your opinion, Classic should be left alone: X1=XI, let's move onto other sub-series.
DeleteThe megaman classic is not like a roman or a rpg game where you have a real end and sometimes, nothing more after that (or rarely), Megaman classic is more like mario, Dr Wily can come back if he wants and the classic serie can be created with a lot of imagination.
DeleteSo, what you say about "end of the classic serie" has just no sens.
Yes return of megaman story "megaman zero: elf wars" please
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes retuns of megaman
ReplyDeleteHaving seen the adverse effects superior graphics can have on gameplay (MM7 & 8), I say keep the classic series going in the 8-bit style people are familiar with. It has marketing appeal.
ReplyDeleteA new game would be great, but since they haven't done jack squat since Inafune left we don't even know if Capcom still has the means to make a good MM game. If it's gotta be another collection, I say do the rest of the classic series. MM9 & 10 are to this date unavailable in a tangible form. And there will come a day when they are removed from all online shops and not even eBay will be able to provide them.
Go to continue megaman x9,star force,zx,please
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I REALLY want is X9. But I'd love to see ZX3 and Legends 3, as well. As for collections, we don't have BN/SF collections yet...
ReplyDeleteOh, and how about a collection with ALL the classic MM games, INCLUDING 7-10? And a collection for the original Gameboy/Gameboy Color MM games?
Battle Network was truly a generation or two too early. A collection with online capabilities (at least for EXE6) would be quite neat.
ReplyDeleteMegaMan X9, or MegaMan 11 with modern graphics.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Please please please please please please please please please PLEASE continue mega man!!! PPPPPLLLLLEEEEAAASSSSEEEE!!!!!!!!????????? :D
ReplyDeleteI'm all for a new megaman x entry
ReplyDeleteSince the old guard is almost all but gone from Capcom... if they try their hand at another new Mega Man game, I'm all for something new entirely. New series, new gameplay design decisions, everything.
ReplyDeleteIf they do, my only hope is that everyone here will give a new series a fair shake instead of doing a knee-jerk "it's different, it's awful." There is a very good reason why they stopped making new Mega Man games: they weren't selling well versus the costs of developing the games! (To my understanding, 10 did okay, but that's the brightest spot of the "latest" titles in terms of commercial turnout.)
Being a nay-sayer before the game is even out can have a negative effect on sales regardless of whether or not the criticism is "deserved." If we do see another new Mega Man title, I ask everyone have an open mind and be ready to vote with your wallet.
I'll be happy with continuing with Star Force, ZX, Legends, or X, since they still need satisfying conclusions, but please no Classic. The Classic series is really overrated by the fanbase.
ReplyDeleteGive Roll her own game!
ReplyDeleteI would love Capcom forever is Roll was playable in MM11.
DeleteGet back Kenji Inafune and let him continue his series Capcom...
ReplyDeleteI swear, if they make Mega Man 11 the way they made 9, original, fun, challenging and with a great soundtrack, I would definitely buy it. (I sure hop Capcom makes the game available on Steam alonside 7-8-9-10)
ReplyDeleteCan we get a maverick hunter x2 please that would be frickin awesome

First of all, no more "Classic" Mega Man game, we want HD sprites, second, if you're intentionally "TRYING" to kill Mega Man and cancelling games on purpose, why keep the rights on Mega Man? why not let another company buy the franchise? third *cough* if you want us fans to like you (Capcom) again, I demand Rockman Online.
ReplyDeleteYes! please give us more Mega Man already Capcom..
ReplyDeletePlease make mega man 11 ....
ReplyDelete
